Hope this means it will be a good sledding season ...

I missed last Winter do to the Cancer treatments. So the last time I rode/started my snowmobile was March of 2012 and it has just been sitting since then. So today I decided to go out to my toy box and take a few laps around the yard on my Quad. I look over to see my lonely ole snowmobile and decided to see if it would even start after 20 months of just sitting there. Now mind you it is PULL start only and after about 10 pulls I was about to give up. Out of the corner of my eye I see a can of Starting Fluid spray and figured what the heck why not try. Sprayed some in the air cleaner and 5 pulls later it fired right up ! Now all I got to do is get the trailer ready and bring it to a Dealer to get its pre-season tune-up and check-up ...... BRING ON THE SNOW !

Picture is the last time I rode :-(

That's a good thing! Make sure the suspension is greased up, etc before you ride!

How did you feel after pulling that thing 15 times? Must have worn you out. Bet it felt good to get it going! :fluffy:

Actually felt OK ....

Went out to shed to get something and the gawd damm quad is so huge

( use to my old 87 Suzuki 230 ) I had to move it out of shed. So since

it was out i did a few laps around the 2 acres that I have my sled trail on.

Got back to shed and saw the sled and figured what the heck I will try

to start it. Never thought in a million years it would fire up after so long

sitting there. Was gonna give up and drag it out to the trailer but saw

that can of Staring Fluid ... use to use it to start the old Suzuki quad

that way. After a few pulls the sled started and I said to myself I just

could not just turn it off. Figured I should let it run for a bit. So .......

back on the Quad for a bunch more laps around the yard .... LOL ...

Was so excited just to be able to blast around on something again

after being tortured since Dec. 1st 2012 with my Cancer treatments.

Again .... Thank you for visiting me at Lahey Clinic when I was there !

Should have seen me the following week when they had to drain

1 1/2 gallons of fluid out of my abdomen. I was truly at my wits end

the night before they drained it. So much pain from that and the 12 hr

surgery a week before that I wished I knew how to get to the roof

and jump off. Yup ..... for the 2nd time during the Cancer treatment

my body and mind gave up. The first time at the end of my Chemo

I was treading a very fine line and my body shutdown on its own.

The mind was following as they admitted me into the hospital for

a week. Luckily a Nurse told my Wife the first night and I guess my

Wife yelled at me as I laid there incoherent to not let it end this way :-(

My body and mind must have heard because the next day I started

to get better ! Will definatly have to take it slow sledding to see how

how the body reacts. Figure Jan. 1st will be only 8 months since the

major surgery and doctor said it would take atleast 1 year to heal.

It was nice to meet you that day, I hope it helped a bit, I know I enjoyed. it. I got the impression that your wife was going to make sue she did whatever it takes to get you health again, which makes you a lucky guy, even if it didn't feel that way last winter.

Hopefully, we can get together for a ride this year.
