OldViperRider 19 Report post Posted November 24, 2010 If you plan to make reservations for the 2011 Easter Seal Ride-In, February 4,5 & 6, at the Balsams Resort, you must call the resort at 1-800-255-0600.If you try to make a reservation over the Internet you will be told that there are not any rooms available. That is because the whole resort is reserved for the Ride-In.Helga and I were there last year and it was a blast. Get your reservations early before they are all filled up.Mark
Baron62 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2010 Sounds like fun based upon what I saw last year on this site. My wife and I will be heading up on Thursday. I was surprised when I saw on the reservation confirmation that "gentlemen are required to wear jackets for dinner and through out the hotel after 6:00 pm" Are we considered "gentlemen" as I would prefer not to bring another set of clothing on a snowmobile trip. It is almost as if my wife put them up to this as she likes it when I have to dress up. I'd rather wear my Doo fleece. It will be nice to get away without the kids. Yes Skip check on that. If we do need jackets we need to get the word out so no one gets "surprised".The Balsams is definitely a place that still tries to maintain the old "Grand Resort" style. Definitely not a Holiday Inn. Also, the wife visits the shops they have there and I usually need to go to the ATM at least once on the weekend. Mark

rivercat 119 Report post Posted November 25, 2010 For the last two years the Jacket req. in the dining room was "suspended" for the weekend,,,, I assume the same will apply this year,,, but maybe wise to check,,, find it hard to believe they would switch this year after the last two years.... The Jacket requirement for the Dining Room will be suspended for the days of our event (Friday & Saturday). However as in past years we ask that folks dining still wear appropriate clothing given the venue! Skip

OldViperRider 19 Report post Posted February 2, 2011 This is the first time I can remember that everyone in the State can ride their sleds to the Easter Seal Ride-In. The trails will be in great condition through the end of next week. If you can come by sled you will not be disappointed!I will be taking a group of 10 out touring the North Country trails Saturday morning at 10 AM. Be sure to sign up and be ready to ride by 9 AM. You will be on trails in Pittsburg that have not been open and groomed for at least 5 years. If "Mother Nature" cooperates the views will be fantastic! Be sure to bring your camera.Mrak

Renovations will start and I am hearing three possible reopening dates, July 2012, Christmas 2012 or July 2013. The ski area will also be closed this winter. The NHSA is aware of the situation and representatives from the NHSA & 2012 Ride-In Committee have already met with Company officials over this issue. Once the Company confirms the closure and re-opening dates, which are just rumors at this time, we will make any adjustments if necessary. In any case once definitive information is obtained we will keep our membership informed appropriately.Skip

Skip 262 Report post Posted July 9, 2011 Hey Skip What ride -in committee?Hi Bruce...I have been appointed by the President as Chair of the 2012 committee along with co-chair Craig Mayo. Chair, Co-chair and Executive Director have met personally with the staff at the Balsams and are in close contact with management over this developing situation. We are prepared to move forward with a succesful 2012 event regardless of any contigencies that may arise before now and next February. Thanks,Skip
