Closed Restaurant and Snowmobile parking

Recommended Posts

The Miss Wakefield Diner on Rt 16 in Wakefield NH is closed until spring. The parking lot is closed off with a cable across the roadway. It has good food and has always been a great place to park you truck and trailer. You could ride north, south, east and west on groomed trails of the Seven Lakes Snowmobile Club. Sorry to see this. Scott and Gracie deserve an extended vacation.

Seems their hours have been reduced over the years. We enjoy that place.

Too bad, yet you still see people at the entrance to shopping centers begging.

It may not be that they can meet the hiring requirements.

I heard that Walmart here is seeking overnight stocking associates starting at $17.50/hr with no experience.

Managing labor is going to be the hardest thing that management will have to do over the next several years should they want to keep the doors open.

Standing 4-5 hours at a whack in some real cold temps. Sure they could find something in this job climate.

Companies are already working on replacement workers.

The attached PDF is from https://www.analyticsinsight.net/how-robotics-is-changing-the-service-industry/

As for Walmart, they have the checkout process pretty well automated for most customers, and Amazon is moving toward automated warehouses. This was happening before COVID, but it's moving faster now. Here's a report from the Sloan School/MIT about the effect of robots on human employment: https://mitsloan.mit.edu/ideas-made-to-matter/a-new-study-measures-actual-impact-robots-jobs-its-significant

Zoom out . . . .

You can't see the forest for the trees . . .

1). Pan Handling IS a business enterprise.

2). The sham starts with them getting a minimalist - just to put there name on the books.

3).  Then they collect. Food Stamps, Welfare, etc .... this is 100% profit.

Working shifts Pan Handling during  commuter hour pays WAY more than working at Friendly's Ice-cream. job (2).

When someone breaks out the "sheeple" label, well, you're pretty much in political country. Probably not a great idea to go this way with a site that's focused on a non-political agenda.

Maybe, but I've seen too many sites get buried under political arguments. Is there such a thing as a Republican or Democrat snowmobile trail?

People are  creatures of habit.....  repetitively we do tasks, as if on Autopilot.

Sympathetically one may be  compelled to offer assistance. driven  by emotions of the moment,   which wouldn 't be offered during a busy stressful moment.

Political?   No, psychology in motion

Shouldn't. Fewer people are carrying cash, and it would look a bit shady if a pan handler had a mobile phone set up with a scanner and app for the debit card transfer.

Don't give these losers any ideas

I started this topic to tell sled riders a good restaurant and good parking area for sledders is closed. How & Why did it turn into bad mouthing people and debit/credit cards.

I'll take some of the blame.

Some take it personal that the owners of a property might just need a well deserved break. I am sure their intent was not to close the restaurant to send a message to anyone... just needed a rest.
