Sled Dave 17 Report post Posted October 14, 2021 The Miss Wakefield Diner on Rt 16 in Wakefield NH is closed until spring. The parking lot is closed off with a cable across the roadway. It has good food and has always been a great place to park you truck and trailer. You could ride north, south, east and west on groomed trails of the Seven Lakes Snowmobile Club. Sorry to see this. Scott and Gracie deserve an extended vacation.

John Mercier 36 Report post Posted December 5, 2021 It may not be that they can meet the hiring requirements. I heard that Walmart here is seeking overnight stocking associates starting at $17.50/hr with no experience. Managing labor is going to be the hardest thing that management will have to do over the next several years should they want to keep the doors open. 1 xklipze reacted to this

Companies are already working on replacement workers. The attached PDF is from https://www.analyticsinsight.net/how-robotics-is-changing-the-service-industry/ As for Walmart, they have the checkout process pretty well automated for most customers, and Amazon is moving toward automated warehouses. This was happening before COVID, but it's moving faster now. John Mercier 36 Report post Posted December 5, 2021 Shouldn't. Fewer people are carrying cash, and it would look a bit shady if a pan handler had a mobile phone set up with a scanner and app for the debit card transfer.
ICG 7 Report post Posted December 6, 2021 Shady, NO... . Obama gave his recipients cellphones when he got in office. Should n't be to hard to use camera as a barcode reader and learn to do electronic transfers.

John Mercier 36 Report post Posted December 7, 2021 A debit card cost them nothing, and the credit card when paid off monthly can be sound budgetary finance. But you don't borrow money on a credit card, and you don't just hand out your debit card. https://www.fistscore.com/do/home
jhwentworth 307 Report post Posted December 8, 2021 When someone breaks out the "sheeple" label, well, you're pretty much in political country. Probably not a great idea to go this way with a site that's focused on a non-political agenda.

I am sure their intent was not to close the restaurant to send a message to anyone... just needed a rest.
