Not enough snow?

Recommended Posts

While reading several stories about COVID-19, and there's a lot too pick from, a picture of some people walking in what looked like several feet of snow caught my eye. Seems that the people in Japan's northernmost island, Hokkaido, were getting hit with a second round of the virus. I wondered how a Japanese island could have so much snow in March-April. Turns out that there are 5 cities on that island that have 150"-300" of snow per year. Yeah, that's up to 25 feet of snow. The city with the 300" of snow, Asahikawa, has a population of 340,000, so it's not a ski resort on top of a mountain.

If you didn't get enough of a snow fix this Winter

That shot of the Japanese bus was impressive. I've seen some pretty big snowplows, actually more like giant snowblowers, in the Rocky Mountain states, but whatever opened up that road must be huge.

The snowmobiling video look like a vintage ride in NH. The mountains look a little different, but the trees look very similar, along with the trails.
