While rummaging through some maps (I know, paper maps?) I came across a mid-1980's state snowmobile map. The maps were a joint effort of NHSA and BOHV, with a statewide map and several more for the counties (I have state, Merrimack, Hillsborough, and Coos).I scanned some of the state map.

As for paper maps, yeah, I have a GPS, but paper maps still have value for me. When you want the big picture a paper map gets the job done.

While riding last week we met a guy who was riding from Jenness Pond in Northwood to Belmont to meet some friends. He had gone through Epsom (said the trails were good) and Chichester and ended up on C15 in Loudon. That meant he had gone through a section of C15 that was closed. He didn't know exactly where he was, so I asked if he had a map, and he replied he had his phone. I opened a large paper map and he realized he had come the wrong way.

Anybody else still use them?

I like the “big picture” aspect of paper maps and still use them, primarily my coos county map which is 6yr old at this point....and sometimes feel it doesn’t quite jive with real time scenarios.

Someday a gps will be in the cards for me. I frequently ride with hendo who uses a gps primarily at end of rides to get us back to our destination with haste

Wait, haha. Did you mean use maps, or use old maps?

I think I've found a bigger pack rat than me.

None of the maps I have are dated, do yours have a printing date?

Do you have the full-state map?

A GPS is equally prone to errors. The GPS map creator doesn't have access to up-to-the-minute data from the clubs. I've also seen cases where even corridor trail routings are different between state maps, club maps, and GPS maps.

These are from the statewide map. Note that C17 stopped at Pawtuckaway Park, no connection to C6. And now C15 terminates in Windham. Still, most of what was there is still there.

I didn't know the "Can Am" club groomed Pawtuckaway.  That parks have change some.

The NH Snowslickers have groomed Pawtuckaway for several years. but back in the day it was Can Am.

Any former Can Am members here?
