The weekly NWS forecast shows snow falling in high terrain of Maine and NH iforthe next few days, and maybe a storm on Saturday that could deliver rain, freezing rain, ice pellets, or snow.

Yesterday afternoon/evening was interesting, with lightning/thunder, rain, sleet, and what may have been some snow. The ground was white in some places. The lightning was quite impressive.

There were a couple of tornadoes within 10 miles of home here yesterday, it was wild for sure. Strange to see the tornadoes, which I think of as being associated with warm weather, and some snow in the same front.

We hada couple tornados touch down here in RI. This is a pic a friend took. Can’t identify if it’s a water spout although he did say photo was taken in direction of the Sakonnet River1B47025F-9746-4155-AB5B-A4BC3605C76F.thumb.jpeg.db141021fb7cc55eaf059723a3e0ae3b.jpeg

This morning's paper had a story about the rescue of a Florida hiker on Mount Madison. The recent storm has put down 3 feet of snow up there, so the hiker used an emergency beacon to get help. He was trying to hike the Appalachian trail south before bad weather struck. Mount Madison trail is over 5000 feet high and is rated as "difficult."

A winter storm warning today for northern Coos County- up to 8" of snow.

Looks like a coastal storm coming in Thursday night into Friday bringing some  snow to most of NH.

It'll take a lot of cold to freeze up all the water there is in the usual wet places, with brooks and rivers still running strong.

Well-  I hope we have a lot of good riding snow around here this year, and don't get that reckoning warm-up in Jan. or Feb. that brings the season to an early end. I just read an article written by a NASA scientist, who believes that the lack of sunspots over the last year will bring record cold.

We received 5" in Dorchester last night, turning to mixed precip and rain this morning.  Went up yesterday after getting done early at work to do some fall clean-up...only to find 2 inches of snow in the yard then.  Guess I miss out on leaf duty this year.   Just hope the ground freezes before the snow and that the ponds/lakes/streams/etc recede quickly.   Nothing like a frozen body of water with dead air space underneath!

I was in groveton this past weekend, it was nice to see snow coverage from Nashua to groveton. Saw quite a few sled tracks coming through twin on rte 3. Hopefully this is a sign of the winter to come....

I was driving up through the mid coast of Maine this past weekend and saw sled tracks all along route 1 for quite a ways. The snow will likely melt there but it was a nice sight all the same.

We only ended up with 4-5" of new snow in Twin.  I'll take 9" on the ground but was hoping for more.

Discouraging to say the least, I’m not always a very positive person but I’m trying to keep my chin up...
