New Sno-Traveler format

Recommended Posts

Sno-Traveler has gone uptown with a glossy new magazine-style format, no more newsprint for them.  The big story is the Race Into Winter, but they hit a couple other issues.

Chris Gamache has a story on page 9 where he advocates for the snowmobile clubs to support over-riding the governor's veto of the bio-mass power bill, urges the clubs to talk to their landowners, and suggests that a change in state funding for groomers and grooming may be in order.

There are instructions for getting the registration discount on pages 6 & 31. Also on page 6 is a short piece that promote the purchase of BiteHarder studs and carbides sharpening tools. The NHSA will get 10% of every online order shipped to a NH address. They claim that any funds received will "directly support our trails."

A couple days ago I got an email from a local club (Fort Mountain Trailwinders) announcing some trail work, nothing new there, but it mentioned that the work to be done was on a trail that's not part of their system. On page 44 of the Sno-Traveler there's a story from a member of the NH Trail Dawgs suggesting that clubs should share resources  to improve local trails.

It's ok... We could have a free newspaper, free memberships, no cost at all from the NHSA, and they would build all our trails for free and buy us all new groomers, and the NHSA would still be at fault.

It's too bad a select few have ruined SledNH. AS I've said before, look haw many threads over the past 2 years were started just to bash someone, or some group. I've had enough. If you couldn't bitch about the NHSA, would you even post????

So lets get positive.  The new magazine is a BIG plus.  Longer shelf life instead of a fire starter and continued good reading.  Maybe now more people will read it and become more aware of what is going on...its amazing to see how many people don't get or read it.  I also think the advertisers will benefit from this new, long lasting  publication.

Yes it is good to see the start of multi-club projects.  We have been very territorial in the past with respect to "club trail systems"...but with less individuals to do trail work and limited resources it is good to see clubs beginning to work together.  As John mentioned with are also going to send out E-mail notification with the facebook and website notifications to help keep members informed in our club.

Let the season begin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgive me for not mentioning that the writer of the above post has his picture on page 30 of the new Sno-Traveler, which may, or may not, be a good thing. The story includes instructions for cooking a "spider dog", which also may, or may not, be a good thing. I mean, the photo caption states that a spider dog "looks like a spider, tastes like mystery meat", so you can't say you weren't warned. I do think I'll take a pass on the hot lemonade.

I have to agree that this is a positive step. Also, I only got one copy, unlike years past. :)  It looks good, and there is clear information about how to join a club and register, and should be early enough for people to adapt to the new process.

Will be interesting to see how things go this year. Won't be any change for me, I have used the portal when possible the last few years, joining a club in October, and being ready to go when I want to ride.

Found the best place for me to register the last few years is the new rest area on 93. Can register at the info desk, open at 7:00 AM Saturday and Sunday, the woman who is typically there does a fine job processing the paperwork. I get my stickers, use the restroom, get a coffee and a little breakfast, and am on my way in 15 minutes. Could not be easier.

With the few yelling negative...the bottom line is positive for ALL of US.  Hot lemonade...you'll just have to try it with your spider dog!

How many "FAMILY MEMBERS" got 2 Magazines? My Wife and I both received a Magazine.

Personally I prefer the "ONLINE" version. I Read what I want and may at times Print out an Article.

Cost to NHSA ???
