Big Day Today - Going to the Dark Side

Recommended Posts

My '03 Polaris Trail Touring that I have had for 10 years had a driveshaft bearing fail a few weeks back, shortening a weekend. Not a hard fix, it's ready to roll again. The incident convinced me that it's time to move up, want to go four stroke, and something better suited for my wife and I to ride. Found a 2012 TZ1, has the 1049cc Suzuki motor, with under 300 miles on it, so it's basically a new sled. Will have twice the power of the 550, and should ride like a Caddy. Picking it up tonight, heading north next weekend. Next week is going to be a long one...

The other sled is going to make room for this one, have a look if you need a reliable starter sled, it has served us well.

This is funny shit...that what this site is supposed to be about.  Don't worry Steve I won't say it today...I'll wait until Saturday.

Good time to upgrade...there are lots and lots of good used and slightly used sleds out there.

Nothing like a rear motor, nice high windshield, and lots of wiggle room and easy on and off!

Oh...and I almost forgot the STEERING WHEEL.

Happy you finally got to upgrade.

Rob

It was past time. Had a set back a few years ago, had a new Doo 900 Touring on spring order, got laid off from work over the summer, had to cancel. Losing the deposit wasn't fun, but it had to be done. This one will be a blast I think, and be everything I need.

Not this one, picked it up last night. The one I have for sale is registered, I plan to transfer that reg to this sled, which I think I can do for $22 by bring my old reg, bill of sale, and previous owners old reg, which I have.

Will be at the Town & Country next weekend, so I will do it on the way there. Gonna be a long week, but at least I can do a little test riding here in the yard this weekend, snowing here now, expecting 18 inches by tonight.

Can't believe you remember that. I'll see if I can dig up some pics from those days later on. We were way behind the times in those days, but we had fun.

Finally got a chance to scan some old pics. My father-in-law bought this sled (Polaris Cobra 340) new in '79. Rode it a bit, then it sat in his garage for a long time. We got it out and did some riding with it. The kids rode around the yard, and my wife and I took it up to NH a few times, in 2003 - 5. Bought the '03 Trail Touring in '06, rode that 10 seasons. Wasn't much, but we were out on the trails having fun.

First pic is (I think) Trail 104 in Bethlehem.

This is my son and daughter (she's driving) in the yard. If you look close, you can see they are airborne (a little). Good times. She put about 100 miles on this sled riding in circles around our yard and the one next door that winter.

Congratulations. ...didn't get a lot of miles on my Z1 this year. Aside from being a bit heavy I loved it..
