Great ride PC. Yeah, kinda chilly is an understatement, LOL! As always had a great time, and BRV club house was a great stop.
We need to do this more often this year.

On Saturday Morning, I met up with BigGuyNH at the Newfound General Store. Parked out back, worked our way up to the Baker River clubhouse for an early lunch, and back to the trailers.
Trails in the area were good for the most part. Some of the woods trails are bumpy, there just isn't enough snow to fill the low spots. There was more good than bumpy, and everything was covered fairly well.
It was cold, about -15 when we unloaded, resulting in a jump start to a weak battery, and some cold fingers. We were fine once we got going. Whenever I get a chance to ride with the Big guy, we have a good day, and Saturday was no different.

In a time where everything seems to be going sour across the country, a story of moderate success for a 26 year old vintage racer from Lancaster is making a lot of people smile. Lucas Nast, who made the front row starting position in the final of the Vintage World Championships last year, went out on his own with building and taking on a lot of financial burdens that come with racing at Eagle River. Derby track. Squeaking through five or six rounds of qualifiers, last round, missed it by one place. Last Chance Qualifier was taking the last two sleds to start on the back row. Lucas qualified in the last spot for the 10 lap final, which found him finishing in 7th place at the end. A remarkable feat for a young independent racer.

I suggest you go up Nash Stream Road (Cor. 5) to Cor. 28 and then ride the trails in the Millsfield area.  They have been fantastic all season (so has Groveton's trails).  The trail down from Dixville Peak to Trail 134 (Nathan Pond Trail by the Balsams) is a mess until you cross under Rt. 26.  Its 5mph for over 2 miles due to the bumps.  That section of trail needs major excavation work.  I don't think 5 feet of snow would allow it to be groomed.  I was told most of the trail is granite outcroppings so to fill in between those with snow is just about impossible.   To head north of Rt. 26 you should take the Flume trail.  From Millsfield, follow the signs to Log Haven.  Take a left at the last intersection before Log Haven onto Primary Trail 113 and that is the best route north.  Check out this great interactive map on the NHSA site to plan your trip:  https://nhsa.evtrails.com/#

Should be a good time! For once I can ride from my house to the starting point without having to trailer. There is another vintage ride through Franconia Notch from Whales Tail on March 7th, so the Vintage World is busy. The quality of sleds on these rides are approaching museum quality and are incredible to see in a big group. I have a few sleds to choose from, but I think I'll take my 73 Nitro that has been stretched from stock 116 inch track to a 136 inch. Fun to ride but has so much traction you don't want to hit the throttle too early coming out of a corner, as the skis lift real ez  with all that extra bite.

I will register one or both  when it's time to ride them. Any travel restrictions around Covid will change my plans before the price increase does. Joined my club back in September, that part is out of the way.
