To be honest, I am surprised you have kept it going this long, considering the traffic.
Still - I check in here every day (so I know how low the traffic is), and will miss this place. The drama and nastiness has always been missing from this place, a welcome thing in the world of social media.

Thanks for keeping it going as long as you did.

Nice to see people getting out and about. I will have to find a way to ride that area, probably next year at this point, that looks like a cool spot.

    Better than being at work...
We really did have a great day. Nothing broken, no one got hurt. Not as many miles as we would have hoped, but it was good to be out in the trails.

Got to do my once a year (at least) ride with BigGuyNH on Saturday. Left from the Newfound General Store, which is a fine starting point. Was a bit warm in the afternoon, but we got in a few miles, and had a great time. More than our share of bumps in the road, but all ended well.
It's possible that one of us manages to hook a ski and go off trail a bit, resulting with a sled on it's side ins ditch. Got the rider vertical, and the sled on its track, and everything out f the hole with no damage to people or equipment. Thanks to the two guys who stopped to lend a hand.
Pushed a stuck sled (not ours) out of a water bar, there were lots of them, which is no surprise this winter.
Ran into a group with a dead sled (fouled plugs and dead battery), we were able to do some back of the group troubleshooting and loaned out a set of jumper cables that got them going.
Only took one wrong trail that had us looking at a very unfrozen lake between us and our trucks. That added a few miles to our day, but that's nothing to complain about.
It was great to finally get on the trails.

Been a while since I've posted here. This was taken about a week ago. I've always been a fool for gaudy sunsets.

This past weekend was the Vintage Snowmobile World Championships in Eagle River WI. The scale of this event is amazing, as competition started last Thursday with the number of entrants reaching 760 people from around the country and  Canada.  Sabrina Blanchet is from Drummondville, Quebec and races for Samson Racing, very successful team. Ms. Blanchet ended up winning 3 different classes including the Worlds Championship.
Placing third in the World Championship was Lancaster, NH native Lucas Nast, who over the last three years has been working his way to the top with a 10th place two years ago, a seventh last year, and a third this year.

Union Leader had a story about a race series called "24-Hours of LeMons". Yes, that's LeMons, not LeMans.  They were at Loudon race track a week ago. Here's one of the cars that competes in that series.

Great ride PC. Yeah, kinda chilly is an understatement, LOL! As always had a great time, and BRV club house was a great stop.
We need to do this more often this year.

On Saturday Morning, I met up with BigGuyNH at the Newfound General Store. Parked out back, worked our way up to the Baker River clubhouse for an early lunch, and back to the trailers.
Trails in the area were good for the most part. Some of the woods trails are bumpy, there just isn't enough snow to fill the low spots. There was more good than bumpy, and everything was covered fairly well.
It was cold, about -15 when we unloaded, resulting in a jump start to a weak battery, and some cold fingers. We were fine once we got going. Whenever I get a chance to ride with the Big guy, we have a good day, and Saturday was no different.

In a time where everything seems to be going sour across the country, a story of moderate success for a 26 year old vintage racer from Lancaster is making a lot of people smile. Lucas Nast, who made the front row starting position in the final of the Vintage World Championships last year, went out on his own with building and taking on a lot of financial burdens that come with racing at Eagle River. Derby track. Squeaking through five or six rounds of qualifiers, last round, missed it by one place. Last Chance Qualifier was taking the last two sleds to start on the back row. Lucas qualified in the last spot for the 10 lap final, which found him finishing in 7th place at the end. A remarkable feat for a young independent racer.
