My first trip to the burg

10 March 2012 - 09:56 PM

Well finally made a trip up the burg finally, first time above Gorham really. Left my house at 6 in the morning and got home around 9 or so.....long day. Anyways we put in at the SDR warming hut, picked up a couple updated maps and off we went with the canadian border as our goal for the day. We pretty much took 5N all the way until we were forced to detour because of flooding, took a trip up the top of the lookout and back, then to the other warming hut up near East Inlet were our lady friend was mortified after she looked into the restroom and saw just two holes, out she ran shaking her head no way! Then it was a short trip up to the boarder, and then back pretty much the same way with a few detours here and there. Saw at least 12 fish cops manning the radar guns in different locations, saw some dude on a brandy new XRS getting a nice fat ticket at an intersection about half way up 5. "BUT officer they were only going like 40 miles a freaking hour I had to pass them, right in front of you!" ehehe...anyways I enjoyed myself very well, my hats off to those clubs up there for making the best of this winter! Thank You

Is this that bowl that everyone talks about up there? It looked pretty neat, never seen nothing like it.

Riding out of Gorham

03 March 2012 - 12:31 PM

Hey guys I was planning on heading up to Gorham next saturday for a full day of riding with a couple friends to mark my last ride of the season. I have never been up that way so I'm looking for some advice on where to park, what trails to ride, where to pick up an up to date map, and a place to stop for lunch. Would like to do at least a 100+ miles and my friend is on a 2up sled so looking for some fairly easy riding and some good views if possible. Thanks!

Sledding and catching Brookies!

06 February 2012 - 02:43 PM

So after going to sleep a little sad last night I decided I needed to catch some trout to boost my spirits after Pats failed to show up......again.....last night : (

Got on the ice right at O'dark thirty and was rewarded by a slew of activity right up until about midmorning. Caught a bunch of smaller brookies and one nice 14.5 inch fatty that I brought home and cooked up for lunch....Yum. After I packed up my fishing stuff I took a quick 30 mile rip, best of both worlds today. Anyways here's a couple pics, you must forgive the obvious "fake" mountains but I gotta be safe with all those flatlanders lurking about  Locals should know doubt see past my deception lol.

Heres the one I brought home

Good riding in Ossipee/Tamworth today!

04 February 2012 - 05:29 PM

Thats right! I'm not kidding either, dropped the sleds off at Canoe King this morning and headed out towards Whites Lake and into the Wonalancet area today. Went up the fire tower, saw a bunch of dog sleds racing around and had a great time. Trails were great! Nice job guys! Then we headed up to the summit of mount shaw, which also has been groomed and was very nice minus a bit a logging about 10 miles up. The only boney part was the rail bed, but we just chugged along at about 10 miles an hour and had no problems. When all was said and done we had logged about 70 miles on great trails. And the best part was.....I didn't have to trailer 3 hours north to find good conditions to ride in. So stop making excuses and get out there! Thank you OVSC!

Scary Weekend for Maine Snowmobilers

22 January 2012 - 07:36 PM

Ouch, just watched the maine evening news and 3 people died this weekend on sleds. One through a lake and 2 into trees, all were wearing helmets. All in different locations as well. They also stated numerous accidents and that other 4 people were sent to the ER around the state with snowmobile related injuries. Yikes.....stay safe everyone!
