Notttingham Highway Garage roof caved in today.

08 February 2011 - 07:30 PM

Our Highway garage caved in this afternoon, fortunately no one was inside, all equipment was out working. We had lunch in there earlier and I should have been in there replacing a u-joint, one of the other guys was getting ready to walk in the door when it happened. Sometimes you never know when bad things can happen. We had a welder who left early, who was there to fix three plows under the ruble that needed repairs. He should probably buy a lottery ticket. plowking

Copper pipe stolen

28 August 2010 - 08:30 PM

My daughter just bought a house last week,it is an older house. It had a sold sign out front. Today we were there doing cleaning, painting, landscaping. My daughter went down stairs and water was everywhere. The furnace and well pump appears to have been turned off by the burglar[s] before they stole the copper pipes. House is close by to where I live. My daughter had our furnace man, plumber out to do an estimate and get things started. The police said the bad guys will usually hit 20-30 houses at a time. I wonder where they took the stuff to scrap it for cash? There are a couple of salvage yards nearby . It pisses me off for the money they made they destroyed other plumbing, valves to get it apart in a hurry. I'm concerned too because you know there are a few vacant houses around because of the economy. plowking

Tractor Supply Store

11 April 2010 - 07:43 PM

I see on TSC website there is a Grand Opening in next couple of weeks. I may go there for their sale. I've been going to the Tractor Supply near me. Wonder if the Ossipee store will be Oldtimer's new home? I know I spend alot of time at mine. I may need info to where it is in Ossipee. plowking

NH stream crossing guidelines.

30 March 2010 - 08:17 PM

I heard the regulations for culverts[ open bottom versus closed bottom] concern for fish ,species, sediment beneficial to carry downstream toward the Atlantic Ocean. I talked to a logger, others who are concerned about puttting in future culverts with new regulations.Culverts are to have stream stimulation to eliminate blockage downstream. Fish have to be able to travel thru a culvert, even in low flow conditions unless culvert bottom is above the flow. Recreational culverts[ snowmobile trails] may or may not apply, temporary culverts can be more lenient then permanent culverts. There is pages of this stuff on NHDES,NH Timber Association. Input as been provided by UNH, Fish and Game, others. I wonder how Beavers fit into culvert bottom stimulation? Are they friend or foe? plowking
