Exactly! This makes the connection of Conway and Twin Mtn via the EXISTING ,STATE OWNED mountian division rail line through Crawford Notch a much more viable option. It would be a mid state east-west connector which would also reconnect Bear Notch road..It has its own set of issues, some political, some practical.Ice slides and avalanches and drifts can sometimes be a hazard,There are many rail bridges that would have to be covered. It would be one of the most scenic rides in the state. The notch is generally a high snow area.Running east-west the sun only hits the tracks a few hours a day in the winter..It would probably need to be maintained and groomed by the bureau of trails ,do you really think that will ever happen?Look closely at google earth sometime, you can see all the cutting that has gone on.And with some existing roads overlaid on top it makes things seem more possible.Looking to the left of the ossipee range it is not a far stretch to connect OVSC at the kanc to to waterville valley via Livermore Pass to Tripoli road.Just imagine where we could go if they would let us.

The biggest hurdle will be town politics. This has already been attempted by the local club and Trails Bureau. It was not stopped by a lack of trying.

Dave,

Here is a link to a company in Nothern Mass. that rents generators as large as you may need.I had put them in touch with the Grassdrag Committee when they were looking a few years back.It worked out well for both parties as I was told. Let them know that you are a non profit group.

So tonight when adjusting the cutters we found that some of them are at thier max,so we need to replace them before next year. I understand that Jordons Machine is the best place to get them. Does anyone know the cost. I also understand it is better to get the 8 inch , are they revesible the 6 inch arn't.

In Topic: Groomer operator contract

I would like to give thumbs up to Rob (RK-SKVIPER) for a well run meeting last night regarding the Groomer Contract option for the Rockingham County clubs. There were many opinions and input from the many clubs represented at the County Meeting.

All in all, I think that most came away feeling a little better about the how and why of why it is necessary to try and show due diligence when it comes to groomer operators. The “Groomer Operator Contracts” will help give the clubs piece of mind that they have made every effort to try and protect the club, the officers, and the operators. A simple oversight could leave parties at risk of no insurance coverage.

Thank you Rob for initiating this!

This thread has nothing to do with that case. The case was settled quite a while ago.
The issue is a policy that is required by the insurance company, which provides coverage to just about every club in the state has stringent guidelines that need to be met. These same guidelines have been in place for many years and prior to that accident.
1) All groomer operators must be 21.
2) All groomer operators must have completed the Trails Bureaus Groomer Awareness Certification class.
3) All groomer operators must have no major violations on driving license during the last 3 years.
The clubs Trail Administrators are tasked with having to collect copies of licenses and Groomer Awareness Certificates for their records to prove that due diligence was done before someone can go grooming.
Since a club cannot get a copy of the operators driving record there needs to be a way, document wise, that the operator is verifying that they have a “clean” driving record. If, god forbid, there is a claim against club for accident or equipment loss or damage, and due diligence has not been done, the club stands to lose a lot of money. The operator would not be covered either.
Whereas, the state holds a lifetime vested interest in any piece of GIA funded purchase and the Fed has an interest in RTP funded purchase, there are a lot of obligations. This does not even include the club and/or a bank that may hold a lien on said equipment. Who is left holding the bag if operator lies about driving record or fails to notify T.A. that their license has been recently suspended?
While in the short term, only the club is feels the immediate repercussions, every club in the state could eventually feel it with higher rates (like we can afford that) or worse yet, no insurance coverage offered.
This, more or less, falls on ones own actions and their responsibility to be held accountable for them.
