ARB Airlocker
07 April 2011 - 09:11 AM
We have Detriot lockers on the rear of both our Tuckers, No problems,But we are looking at an ARB set up for the front of the 92. A quick web search shows some unhappy folks in the 4X4 community but I am sure they are beating them like a stepchild over rocky terrain and such.So what has failed on your air locker and how often?

Four years ago we replaced the belts on one of tracks on the old Tucker,Last Spring we bought a huge roll of belting to do the other three. The thought was by buying the raw material for three tracks for the pre-made price of one track we would be way ahead. As usual we all got tied up and didnt get around to it last Summer so this year while everyone was still jacked up from a great season we busted out the drills and had at it. Here are some stats and pics of the project.
4 belts with 24 cleats per track.
48 holes per belt.
8 more holes for the lacing clips= 56 total holes per belt or 224 holes per track.
3 complete tracks =672 holes drilled by hand with a track punch.
The entire project took well over 100 man hours split between the usual suspects Sundays and after work.

Epic endoro ride to Boscawen
06 March 2011 - 07:14 PM
Woke up yesterday morning Knowing the season was about done around here, And also realized it was going to be another season of not getting my skis across the Heros Bridge if I did'nt do it soon. The boy was game,But we had to replace a suspension bolt on his sled first,The wife knew that a ride like that was not for her so she backed out,It took an hour and a half to fix his suspension,The funny rattle and a loose recoil,But by 10:30 we where good to go,By then the wife changes her mind and decides to go.......So we rolled out of the Yard and over Loudon Ridge to the track.

Loudon trails where far better than expected,The new/Used Piston Bully must have been back up and running,We met a few Sno-Shakers pulling pipe drags as we traveled around the track headed to their clubhouse on 15, From the Clubhouse we took trail 4 Over to the rail trail off of Exit 18,Again the goat trail that is trail 4 was very VERY good. A tip of the helmet to the Shakers.Over achieved the speed limit once or twice heading to Tilton,Sad to say I dont know whos system it was, But damn it was smooth one handed running all the way in,Took the switch back past the Park n Go and shot down to Downtown Franklin,From here it got kinda sketchy,Followed a trail arrow and sign down the side of the road and wound up by Macdonalds,Got off the sleds asked around and was told by the girl in the store that the trail ran down the sidewalk and was indeed O.K (No signage,No go slow signs,No keep on sidewalk marker made me kinda nervous)From there we ducked back on the trail behind Mickey D's,Saw some trail blazes nailed to trees and felt better when We saw signs for the Dam crossing.

From there we grabbed 11 south And I told Cindy we would soon be there,I have heard lots of bashing about the trails in Franklin,All I will say is there is no sign needed for where they leave off and TLTD begins. We rode 11 into town And I reminded Cindy it wont be long now....After crossing by Alans resturant,I pointed to it and declared thats where we will be having dinner.A few more miles up the trail I said it's not far now,A few miles more up the trail,I said it again,Then the next time we stopped Cindy declared she was done and would wait for us to return from the F-ing bidge! After some conversation we left her trail side and found the F-ing Bridge only 2 miles up the trail.

Seafood Platter was great,Steak even better,Cindy wrapped what was left of her burger for the dog.Left Town with full tanks and full bellies around 7 pm.
Now the last part....There could be excuses and blame and bitching, But the bottom line is I screwed up,As a Club member,Trail Admn,A trail grunt and groomer,I screwed up,While crossing at the dam,I saw Boulder on the outside corner, While still traveling at a good clip I swung off the trail where some others had, To wait for the rest of the group to catch up,When I did, I found A boulder the size of a school desk,My fault stay on the trail or stay home.Nuff said.Left the sled at Tom Ange's house and two upped another 5 hours home.Picked up the sled this morning
needless to say.

This one wont just "buff right out"
13 hours of ride time,But what really pisses me off is My sled was running total mileage,So I dont know how far we really traveled. I am guessing around 180 miles for the day..
