Stopped by the little dam off East Inlet to grab a snack. Saw these guys poke their heads out of the ice. There were two different holes in the ice..closest one was maybe 75 yards from the dam. Damn camera dosn't zoom any closer. Has anyone else seen them here?
One of them had even come out under the ice by the dam....went up and over the dam in the snow and then into the river below. You can see his tracks go up and over.

That's cool - sightings like that are a great part of sledding.
A couple of years ago we saw some tracks in the trail down toward the Balsams where an otter had run and slid down the trail.
Thanks for posting the pics

I see them on Umbagog now and then in the summer. Cute little buggers. Very entertaining to watch. The seem to like fresh water mussels cause I see piles of mussels where they feed. I've never seen one in winter.

I watched two otters at Perry's pond,
they were sliding down a small hill onto the pond, it was funny as hell and they knew I was watcjing them,
they were like kids showing off!
Otters are cool
Anyone ever watch a beaver at work?
Amazing to say the least.

I saw 1 at Pawtuckaway 1 day when mtn biking. He smacked his tail on the water - sounded like a gun shot.

That is a great photo! How close were you?
I was on Mooselookmegantic when i stopped and to tell my friend to keep his eye to the sky,
cause there are many Bald eagles over there.
He then points to the sky, and what do we see? Two Balds!
The only thing cooler to watch fly is a F-15, funny they call the f-15 the "eagle".
