I double checked our two place clamshell trailer before heading for a day ride in pittsburg today. All was good but one tire which were new last year, has high speed glazing. The pressure was only down 8 pounds but now I can feel a little vibration at low speed.

..... has high speed glazing.

So it has a window that won't blow out at 100mph?
:pardon:

Just Kidding - I have never heard that term before. What is it?

Yikes!

It does seem like most "snowmobile" trailers are built a little flimsy.

No, OT there all built to a bean counters specification. Market price drives this industry and with expensive aluminum costs, there all a bit thin.

Not sure of the technical terms, but these trailers do NOT follow any Federal regulations like the large over the highway road trailers. There are no specs or requirments that these companies must adhere to. They don't even have to have a Registered Professional Engineer design and stamp the drawings to put them on the street. Its sheer madness that  just about any metal shop can build a product going down the highway with no professional review.

Sled trailers aren't the anomaly as boat trailers are speced to the bare minimum for cost constraints by most buyers.

Good ideas cost money...in the 90's there was a company making wet lubed hubs just like the large tractor trailers have. They ran in a bath of synthetic oil which cooled and lubricated the hubs.... Down side was they cost about $100 dollars. I think I was the only person to buy a set or so it seems. They were only a special order option and I haven't seen any in ages.

I looked up the tire wear chart and its called alternate lug wear from unmatched or not properly inflated drive axle/trailer tires. For some reason, I thought it was called glazing.

oh, ok. I know where that is. We ride by that place all the time. Cellphone service is right in that small area too. I'm up behind burns across from grand ole lodge. We have great trails, without driving to pitts. :good:

My riding partner has some co-workers staying there this weekend.
Have Friday off next weekend, heading to Trail Side and zig zagging North to Pittsburg. Need to ride. Registered my 4 place for the rest of the season. :good:
