We are planning a small club ride up to Bear notch this Saturday. Is there a online map of the trails also where is the best place to park for a group of trucks and trailers. Is there a decent place for lunch. We know it won't be a big ride but maybe it will get rid of the itch.

is the parking there free ?
i thought many years ago when i rode there you need to pay for a parking tag from the ranger station.

Good idea for a club ride given the season. :good: Just bear in mind the parking at the Kanc end has no turn around area for a large 4 place trailer. Could be a long back up . The Bartlett end may be more suitable for a large group as well. I don't think you need to pay during the winter to park, worth checking out.

My buddy and I rode Bear Notch Rd (and area) early last saturday morning. Conditions were great even though snow was soft.75 miles for the day. Great place to eat off trail is cabin fever. They are on bartlett side of bear notch road. One warning though.....due to lack of snow no on trail gas is accesible. Make sure you watch your gas if you want to zip around all of their trails. We parked on kangamangus side. There is only enough room to turn a two place trailer around. Hope this helps.

hey guys...
the big guy and i rode 100 miles on sunday on BearNotch system. we were 1st of 5 sleds out. parked on bartlett end of bear notch rd. conditions were awesome. started riding at 7. by 1030 we had 75 fast, nice miles on. shortly after that it got conjested. by 1130 there was 150 sleds out there. couple f&g's and it got real choppy. we finished at noon cause of it. but all in all awesome ride. got 100 in. just wish it was interconnected with another system. i dont know maybe it is but we sure didnt find it.

That's off of 112 (Kanc) but off of the 302 side in Bartlett there is ample parking for trailers and it's free. Mind you everyone, that Northern Extreme's uses this as their rental area, so you will be rubbing elbow with a lot of newbies on rental sleds. Just sayin... :yahoo:

for people like myself the KANC side is the closer for us.
depending which direction you are comming from the South it would be either 18 or 30 miles further to the 302 side.

I did not have to pay on Kank side and a agree that a 4 place would be hard to turn around.

I have been up there twice now, parked both times on the Kanc side. The conditions have been excellent! There are no signs posted saying you need the white mountain forest pass. There is plenty off room for parking and the turn around is plenty big as long as some flatlander doesn't park in the middle of it :nea: I saw plenty of 4 place trailers up there, so it can't be that bad, make sure you park on the west side of the bear notch road. There is also a new place to eat that just opened up in town Bartlett, its called the Cabin Fever. They have great food and you can ride your sled right to the front door and park. Also the place will be loaded with F&G so watch yourself. When I go up I get there before 8 and gone by noon, 200 plus sleds plus rentals makes you start to rage on a 40 mile system. Have fun!

Great place to pick up a sandwich and they make their own chips is Bart's deli. It's just about on the corner of Bear Notch Road and 302. Also, there is additional parking on the 302 (Bartlet) side further up 302 than at Bear notch road as well. I believe it's the Sawyer River road access point. Saw sleds and trailers parked there last weekend.

we went up there a few weekends ago. There was a Ford f250 contractor truck with a four place that had no problem turning aroung, in fact the area was big enough for me to just turn around (no backing up) with my Dodge w/2place trailer. But I would recommend an earlier rather than later start imo. I have NEVER paid to park nor have a ever been ticketed to park either.
