As they Say Vote EARLY and OFFTEN?

To those procrastinating about registering, The Clubs need your Registration money desperately in the coming physical year. Why you ask? The last several years even with good snow conditions overall Registration has been down significantly. As you know the Trails are funded solely by Snowmobile Registrations. This means there will be less and less money for New Grooming Equipment and Trial Maintenance. On top of this there will be NO Federal RPT Grants issued in 2012. Not sure how our National Legislators voted on this?

In past years with high registration numbers Clubs could shoot for a New Groomer (depending on needs) and 3 Trail Projects. This has been whittled down to New equipment being the exception and may be one Trail Project. Several years ago it was broken down to a choice, if you were looking for a New Groomer and Trail Works funds you the choice of one and not the other. There has been talk that in the future there would be more emphasis on spending monies on Refurbishing Groomers rather than buying New.

You should talk to your County Director some time and see how much goes into spreading what little funding is available when trying to share it equitably through out the State.

I understand your point, but with conditions we've had, AND the crappy economy on top of that, i just can't see spending $300 on something that I may never use this year.

Personally,

4 sleds
3 quads
1 RZR

We need a stronger lobbying group in the eyes of the state. Imagine if all Inn's/Lodges/Hotels etc., paid half the room/meals tax into the sled fund when the lodger was snowmobiling? All it takes is the proposal and the votes.

We need to take the sled monies back from lynching us Lynch. It used to roll over every year, now it goes into the general fund.

And now we find out the DOT wants ALL OHRV registration money to distribute as they see fit. I believe they are voting on it coming up.

Um where did you get these facts? (about the general fund and OHRV reg to DOT) Posted Image

I have heard that RTP which is FEDERAL$ will be heading to DOT for "safe routes to school" and red flag bridge aide

No, and probably will not because the cost of the registration and the cost of driving to the snow is just too much. I wish NH would consider a 3 day registration like Maine.

I did double check with NH BOT (Trails Bureau) The Fact is ZERO money goes to the State general Fund

ALSO ZERO OHRV money goes to NH DOT

The federal RTP money IF it comes back to NH "looks" like it maybe overseen by DOT
RTP is Federal
GIA is State money from reg and some state (not federal) gas tax income

Between the NHSA and BOT an excellent job has been done keeping our sport afloat. The CRUSHING blow to the whole mess is a year like this will see many THOUSANDS of sleds NOT get registered this also affects the gas tax that flows into the program too!
Best fix is register your seld even if your not planning on riding,,, the program runs on registrations! we have gotten our moneys worth the last few winters, and will get our moneys worth in the future,,, summer construction is NEVER ENDING, and with 115 clubs, equipment has to be replaced SOMEWHERE every year.

I do not intend to offend at all,,,, just be careful what you chose to believe from ANY forum,,,,, mistakes can and do get made this way

I made these statements as I understood them from the Trails Bureau

What your stating I believe is how the state of ME is funded (which in my opinion is their #1 funding issue). Here is the current breakdown, NH is 100% self funded (NO general fund here).

NEW REGISTRATION FEES EFFECTIVE JULY 1 2010

New Hampshire Club Member Snowmobile registration is $64 per sled (Non Members $94)
Out of State Club Member Snowmobile registration is $84 per sled (Non Members $114.00)

This is the breakdown of where your registration money goes

NH RESIDENT-CLUB MEMBER $64.00

Agent Fee $3.00
Fish & Game Search and Rescue $1.00
Fish & Game (Registration,Law Enforcement, Safety Education $13.00
Trails Bureau GIA Equipment Grant $6.70
Trails Bureau GIA Maintenance Grants $26.60

I totally understand your comment. Maybe clubs should be asking there members to make a donation directly to them for the members that don't register?

Here is some more information,
HERE

It is a forum, so be careful not to believe anything or believe only what you are comfortable with.
In your post you stated that in 2005 or 2006 the state started putting our Reg money in the general fund, that is totaly untrue. Now as for the proposed house bill, it is in the exploritory phase and there is a LOT of resistance. As for the DOT grabbing our $ that is the potential future of RTP federal funding, which will be determined by the new federal highway bill. As for the info on the web be carefull there's some true, some not true, and a lot of half truths.
