Snowmobile Trail Report for Pittsburg NH

January 27, 2012

It's currently 25 degrees with a sleet and snow mix. We have received about an inch of new snow since last report, but we remain hopeful there is some snow on the way. Our 2012 trail system is now 100% open with an icy base covered by snow over most of the system. Trail conditions range from fair through the town trails south of lake Francis to good/very good on most logging roads to the north. The best riding can be found east of rte 3 away from services. Trail access to town has been opened, but there is minimal cover please watch for open water bars. , some of these trails will NOT be groomed until there is more snow. Please obey all signs, there have been many complaints from F&G and the loggers saying people are not obeying the no snowmobile signs, or the shared road signs. Enforcement has been out and will be ticketing violators, if the rules are not followed we will lose these trails as we are only guests on the property. Perry stream road is CLOSED above the Ramblewood junction 158 and we have built a trail to the side of the road between jct 341 and 158 please stay on this trail and off the logging road. Magalloway rd. is shared in from rte 3 to almost the south Bay junction 480 in this area you need to stay off the road and on the trail that we have built to the side. Riding is best in the higher elevations where there is a deeper snow pack. Please stay tuned to the website for future updates.

Check out the new PRRSC web cam at the club house.

The current temperature is 25.3°F here at the First Connecticut Lake (11 am). That is also the high for the day so far. Everything that has fallen or is falling is freezing in the trails. The trails are actually gaining cover. :clapping:

If it does not go above freezing today the riding should be quite good this weekend. You might need ice scratchers though.

I'm heading up to the burg on Wednesday for a couple of days and then down to the Gorham area for a couple more. Sounds like there is a decent base in place so now we need a few of those clipper storms.
