Unfortunately, metric frame motors ( 1 phase) are not the norm & the prices are insane.
I've found a lead on 1hp single phase (220V) BUT 50 HERTZ for soft money...
Will a 50 hertz motor run here in the US with 60 hertz ?

I know the owner at First Electric Motor Service and I am sure one of his guys could help you out with the motor or a work around. They do full rebuilding there as well so maybe that is an option.

Other suggestions over the weekend....a military multi phase diesel generator to run the barn & the toys with in?
Why not a retrofit to put a std. 60 hrtz motor in the bandsaw?

Unfortunately, the space constraints are tight...this machine was built around a sealed metric framed motor. If I can find an exact replacement metric motor I'm hoping to just bolt it in. If not, it looks like I will be disassembling the top from the bottom for access to re machine holes to mount the new motor.
Not sure if it's really overkill, but it was nice to go to the control panel on the boat & start up a 4 cylinder diesel generator to power everything when your out on the water.

Without knowing the load requirements and the maximum current rating (FLA) for the motor it will be hard to get 100% confirmation.
Generally, running a 50 cycle motor on 60 cycle power isn't a serious problem if the load can stand a 20% faster rotation. Running a 60 cycle motor on 50 cycle power is more likely to have issues with over-heating and heavy current draw.
Here's a pretty good explanation of it: http://www.eng-tips....qs.cfm?fid=1224
In your case they're saying if the load can take the 20% greater speed, try it, but measure the Full Load Amps (FLA) and if that number is under the motors rating you should be good.
