Any word on the safety of first lake??? Got a group of us going up and stsying in a house on first lake. It would be nice to run across the lake to get to the nicer trails quicker. I am not a big fan of the lakes and ice safety is always first so any info is appreciated

3 of us ran it yesterday there were a few slush spots in the middle not sure if it was just water on top of ice or not did not stop to check it out but the sled did not sink down into the slush hardly at all.would run it again but would not hang out there they were in the middle of the lake were many sleds have gone over it

Tuesday morning 1/24/2012.
We have received over a quarter inch of rain overnight. The First Connecticut Lake is wet and has many pockets of "Slob" now. It will need a few days of below freezing temperatures to firm back up.
