A shout out to you Pitt's regulars .....
Would like to sled from say Young's down to Errol to eat then sled back to Pitts.
i figured 21 to 20 to 120 ( want to stop at Grand View Snack Shack for the view )
to 5 To SDR hut. From here I would like to go thru Dixville peak area and may be
see windmill. What trail numbers do I need to do ?
Do you go 18 to 134 to 110 ( Kelsey Notch trail ) to Errol ?
After eating would like to see the Buffalo's ( all my years sledding to Errol I have never
seen them ) and head back to Pitts. I am guess the Buffalo's are on 18 ?
If it is 18 i figured 18 back to 134 to Lake Francis or may be 18 to 112 to 136 and 20 ?
Much appreciated thoughts from you regulars up there.
Would like to do this on Feb.11 ( a Saturday )
Rob .....

Skully we rode from SDR Thursday and Friday, Erol is roughly 22 miles from SDR warming hut, we rode right buy the Buffolo place. Definatley check with a regular, on Friday we stopped by Junction 388 and there were 6 people lost, the map didnt seem to jive with the junction from what we were told the logging has kind of messed up a few spots, we eventually figured it out. great riding both days.

I can not believe more people have not posted to this thread. I haven't rode up there in years and I can still remember some stuff.
It is not like I am asking for some secret spot location or something. I am just asking for some general questions so I can plan
where the heck we will ride WITHOUT getting lost. I always rode up from the Milan side into Errol and got gas where the now Cote's
place is OR across the street where there was a gas and food place. I do not even know if that place is even still there. Also there
was a GREAT place to eat where you crossed the road and was a log cabin type of place. Is that place even still there ?
We always went out through Kelsey's Notch or up to Dixville Peak then back thru Nast to Twin.
What I am trying to do is come down from Pitts via SDR then back a different way. Do you remember where the Buffulo where (what trail ?).

Skully, it's been a few years since I rode through there. I'm pretty certain the Buffalo are off of 110. You can access that trail from 18 out of CSP. The Log Haven restaurant you mentioned is on a off shoot from 110 where it comes off from the East side of Dixville peak, near the Kelsey Notch trail. You could cross over the peak from the Balsams side to access 110 , or run 18 from CSP to 110 . The Buffalo will be just after crossing Rt26 on the south side. There is another nice loop that will bring you into Pittsburg from Roberts Roost intersection . SDR and Errol maps will piece this all together . I could be wrong on this stuff , the maps certainly would be a good idea. Make sure you have a full fuel tank when you leave Errol.

You may not be able to get to Dixville peak. I heatd the trail was closed going up the because of incomplete construction. Not sure if that meant both sides or not.

The Errol Cream Barrel closed a couple years ago. Has some new owners but I'm not sure they have opened yet. Gas is available at both places in town and Cotes pumps operate 24/7 as do SDR warming hut.

Nothern Exposure in town is not bad food. Log Haven is also decent.

There are quite a few trails closed for logging, windmills, etc. in the SDR Dixville area, and most people have not been through there yet due to the late season start.
Face it - you're gonna get lost :poke:

looks what i will end up doing maybe is go by SDR to Diamond Peaks Motel and stay on Corr.5 to 110 (Kelsey Notch Trail)
to Log Haven to eat. Shoot to Errol for gas then back track to 18 to 134 back to PRR trails (or up 112 to 136) either way back to Youngs.
Save looking for the Windmill for another time ;-)

You can see the wind generators from miles away since they are ~400 feet tall.. If you want to get close you can head southwset of Errol to Millsfield where thete are nearly 30 of them. Snow in Millsfield is supposedly good now.

Not too sure if you are making a special trip to see the Buff's. When taking a motorcycle trip over that way this
fall. We did not see any Buff's, but the fence was still up. I remember another place that had Buff's right along the trail in NH as well, but could not remember where... Buff's woud come right up to the fence when the sleds parked and looked for handouts.. I will try to find the pics and post them up.

Oopps my bad, the railbed is 8. When there's enough snow on the rail bed (8) it is a nice ride to take it south out of Plymouth to 24, which brings you into the Bridgewater Mountain snowmobile club trails & Newfoiund lake area. Sorry to get off topic of you original post !
