Obviously priority 1 is dealing with the deceased, the missing, and the injured... But once the human tragedy aspect is under control, how the hell do you move a freakin cruise ship which is half full of water?!
Have you seen one of these things close up? They are MIND BLOWING HUGE

There are stories comparing it to the Titanic, but there was no cleanup required for the Titanic. It just dropped to the sea floor a mile or so down. (Not to mention that Titanic passengers could not swim 100 yds to shore in warm water :nea: )

Dealing with this wreck is going to be a daunting engineering challenge. It will be very interesting to see what they do and how they do it.

Weld a bigass patch over the hole then pump the water out and it will probably float it's way to port with a tug boat!

Watching the news about the stricken cruise ship & the news presenter said

" she's lying on her side with a gash the size of a tennis court"

I just happened to glance at the wife lying on the couch and now it's all kicked off !

Google the recovery/salvage efforts they did after Pearl Harbor and see how they uprighted the ships that were heavily damaged, very impressive and that was done 70 years ago! I'm sure they'll do the same here on this cruise ship

Sealing the ship up and pumping it out seems like the only way to go. I would think there must be means of sealing off different compartments of the ships.

 It worked for the Mythbusters. They built a sail boat with that stuff , then sailed around the harbor with it. :)

Tonight on NBC News they talked about how they were going to get the ship out of there. They said it could take upto a year to do. One method being talked about is called "parbuckeling" basicaly uprighting the ship by hooking chains to the top and pulling it with tug boats on one side, and chains on the bottom on the other side and pulling all togeter. They may also have to patch holes and pump some water out as mentioned in the thrread.

Just think of how times have changed. 100 years ago when the Titanic sank, men faced certain death to see to it that women and children had a spot on a life boat. Today, this captain takes his leadership role to put himself on a life boat and stays there as the local coast guard commander orders him to return to his ship to tend to the hundreds still on board.

Along with his 2nd and 3rd in command. I'm sorry but all three need to meet a firing squad on national TV, better yet go pay-per view and give the proceeds to the victims families.
