I went cruising around today and eyed this trail in Alton. Started to go up and quickly came across some big rocks a couple hundred yards up the trail and I said no way since I was alone. Anyone that has been up it, do the rocks end after that? Or does it get worse? And is it even worth going up to the top from that trail?

It depends on which way you go up to the top, if you go to Straightback via Trail D and then over to Mt Major from there, its not bad.....but there has to be alot of snow either way. The view from the top of both Mts is amazing and definitely worth the trip. Mt Major's view of Alton Bay is incredible.

Went to Straightback on Saturday.....trail only open to about 1/2 mile from the top. Major was not opened from that side yet. Friend of mine went on Sat. afternoon and went to Major, so trail is open. Best access is definitely off of trail "D".

Trail to Straighback is groomed. Trail from Straighback to Mt major is groomed. Took a ride up on this past Sunday and its the best I have ever seen it getting up there. Warm temps this week wont help.....
