The low temperature for January 22, 23 & 24 is forecast to be -20 degrees F. The highs are forecast to be near zero.

If you are coming to ride in Pittsburg this weekend bring extra layers of clothing, hand-warmers, gas treatment, etc.. Speaking of gas treatment, be sure to put it in your tank before you leave home. Putting it in Saturday morning will be too late.

just once I hope their forecast is wrong. Those negative numbers got me chilled already. I'm headed up at noonish today for a well deserved weekend of riding. I gotta believe that it will be very
busy on Saturday with all us Vermonters coming up to experience God's Country....

Yes, there will be a lot of traffic Friday to Sunday as many of us in NH will be trying out the VT trails.

Monday morning it was -10 degrees F when we left at 8 AM. Up until 11 AM we saw only 6 sleds. From 11 AM to 12 noon we must have seen sixty!:shok:

If you want to have the best riding, especially on the weekends, get out early and come back early. :good:

The temperatures in the Burg are going to REALLY get cold this weekend. Check out John's NH Weather forecast!

There will be some "three dog nights" over the next few days. The temperature is going below zero starting Friday night and not coming above zero until sometime after Monday.:shok:

Break out the Union-suit.

Three Dog Night!

This is a great song to listen to while riding!

Yes, that is a great song by the group Three Dog Night. But, do you know what a "three dog night" is?

It refers to being cold. Often when ranchers or cowboys were out on the range they would have to sleep with their dogs to keep warm. A one dog night was a night when he had to share body heat with one dog, two dog night was two dogs and a three dog night was an extremely cold night where he would have to share body heat with three dogs. “how cold was it on your trip?” “It was a three dog night”.

From a google search

So much for weather reports, Sat. was awsome with temps in low teens. temp is minus 2 right now. Not quite the brutal temps they were talking about.

I just got back from about a 100 mile ride and it was great. Blue skies and well groomed trails. The sled really liked the cold temperature and it got the best gas mileage ever.

The high temperature today, Sunday, was -1.3 degrees F. The low so far was -10.7 degrees F at 8 AM and currently, 2:30 PM, it is -7.4 degrees F and dropping. It is going to be a very cold night tonight and a cold day tomorrow.

Yesterday the low temperature was -20.2 degrees F and the high was only -1.4 degrees F. At 6 AM the current temperature is -26.9 degrees F and dropping. We are getting wind chills down to as low as -40. I am putting on another layer when I go out snowmobiling later this morning. The groomers were out last night and the trails should be awesome today.
