It appears the lake locked overnite last night on January 4th... I was up there this weekend and the bays were all frozen and I checked many different live cams througout the day today and it appears it's all locked in. Now with temps forcasted to be well below freezing for the near future, all we will need is some nice snow and I will be able to anywhere I want....
Anybody else have any input on this matter or anything else ?

I was by areas of the lake yesterday around Gilford. The lake is not locked up yet,but should be real soon with the predicted temps. This is probably a good thing if we get any measurable snow as it will insulate the ice from building as fast. The good thing was it was snowing most of the afternoon.

this is a comprehensive page about the ice in date and history. Within the forums there is a lot of talk from people around the lake that are physically watching it. Enjoy

Update: Friday, Jan 8th. The Broads in Gilford is finally skimmed over and the Broads is always the last to freeze. Absolutely not ready for sleds or and other living thing but it looks like we are on our way to a good freeze. Lets just hope that we don't get a warm spell with wind.
Thanks Rickzach, I was up there all weekend and we had the calmest day in a long time on saturday ZERO wind so I figured it was about time. No temps above freezing forcasted in the near future. Also talk of a storm on wednesday, I hope it gains a 1/2 a foot or more by then of thickness.
Does anyone know the formula of how quick ice builds once it is locked and skimmed over ? Just curious. I've heard as much as 2 inches a night ? not sure though...
