Hey guys,

Im new to Slednh.com and it seems like a great site with a lot of local knowledge and experience. I am fairly new to the sport and have pretty much been going to the same spots all the time (twin mt). Twin seems to be a very common place to go and is always packed and beat up real quick, just wondering if its worth the extra miles to go up to gorham or berlin? not too familiar with the area and have no idea if there is any parking.

thanks

Always ready to cheer-lead for my club, and the surrounding clubs..

Come East to Ossipee/Tamworth. We have lots of parking, lots of ride-in gas and food, and some really nice trails.

Parking @ White Lake State Park, or the Canoe King. Maps and good directions @ the Canoe King as well.

These are not trails like up north, these trails are tighter, and have a lot of hills and corners...but also a lot of views and senic stops.

Clubs are Ossipee valley SC, Scrub Oak Scrambles SC, Seven Lakes SC, Sandwich Sidehillers SC, Interstate Trailblazers SC, Wolfeboro SC, Moultonboro SC, and (I think) White Mt. SC.

Between all of them, you'll be 2 weeks riding all the trails.

White Lake State Park.

Actually I do know where white lake state park is! when I was a kid I would go up skiing with my family and stop in at the dunkin donuts and always see a ton of sled trailers pulling in there. thats about half the drive for me as well

I live in Wakefield NH, about 30 mins south of White Lake... The trails arent too bad around here, but I trailer to Berlin all the time! The trails are great up there. Berlin is where the trails start to get wider! We ride from Berlin to Pittsburg and back in a day. Well worth trailering to Berlin! From what I hear, they put some serious work into the berlin trails this year! Just go to Berlin, stay east all the way up through the Coleman State Park area and up through Pittsburg to the East inlet. Its a great ride!

Trails are busy in Berlin, also on weekends! Think about weekday rides! Anywhere north of twin is flooded on the weekends!

we made a loop from twin to lancaster then down through berlin last year and i loved it over there, I can only imagine what the trails are like north of there. I think im staying east this year.

Hopefully the weather turns good for statewide riding. It greatly lightens the traffic up north when the masses dont have to trailer that far.

Sorry, when i do the berlin to pburg ride its on a wednesday! I dont ride too many weekends up north... WAY to packed! From berlin to Pittsburg the clubs groom just about every night, so its a great ride. All the people go home sunday so they groom sunday night, monday night, and tuesday night with little sled traffic. Makes for VERY good riding on Wednesday! The issue w/ Twin is so many people go there. Its really the first place to ride off of 93 so alot of people go there!

You can also park at the RT. 2 parking lot in Gorham only about 25 minutes from Twin Mtn. sits right on Cor. 12 and 19 head north from there is great riding into Berlin Cor. 19 or cor. 12 into the Success area on the other side of the river. :good:

Quick note, I have heard several times that Pittsburg is way to packed on the weekends. This will be my fifth year and always ride Fridays-Sunday. We do around 2000 miles each season. I wouldn't say it's like Boston rush hour or anything even close. Once your a few miles away from Youngs Store your clear sailing. Very rarely do we have to slow up for traffic. Besides it kind of nice watching the sleds go by when you take a break

Your are correct sir! Also, if you leave for a ride early, around 7 or 8 AM, you can get in 100 miles before lunch in Pittsburg on the weekend.Posted Image

Lockey14S ... I guess it's what type of trail's you prefer to ride in and how Far your willing to Travel/Trailer to these "All magnificent" spots in NH...
1st off..I'm a Southern NH Guy.., not going to "Toot" for our trail system, as I know how good it is for the amount of sled traffic it get's (especially weekends).
But Many like to ride where they won't see 4-10 sleds all day .. (Hard to picture actually).. I have stayed in Coleman Park area on several VERY Busy weekends ( sno-deo ) ..and it really isn't Bad at all once out of the congestion...20-30 sled's in outter route's.
The one thing you alway's have to be aware of in Pittsburg area riding is your fuel consumption... Know where the Fuel & food is... wether it be in Coleman Park at Swiftdiamond rider's club house or the Young Store Pittsburg area...The scenery is "unsureal"...all the way to the Canadian Border on either side of Lake Francias'...

I totaly agree, the talk of traffic and crazies in pittsburg is waaaay overblown, sure if you go out on sat morn during school vacation week and ride the "popular" loops but otherwise there are always empty trails in the burg ya just gotta look for 'em.

Another good place to park is Lowes Gas Station on Rt. 2. Take Rt. 3 north out of Twin Mt. to Rt. 115 north to Rt. 2 East. It will take you about 15-20 minutes and they have parking available. From there you can head up towards Pond of Safety by going due north or your can cross over Rt. 2 and hit the rail bed and go east or west. Gets you to the snow quick.

I'm going to try this area next. We had started heading to Littleton and the Bethlehem area last Thursday. Most sled traffic was heading towards Twin.

Baker River is a good spot. Twin and Baker had good snow last year. I have had some good rides out of there.

Another good area is in the Town Line Trail Dusters. You can ride to Baker River or towards Mt. K from there. The trails are can be pretty wide in areas. Reminds me of Burg.
