We are trying an experiment here. The Board of Directors has given me permission to present a synopsis of the August BOD meeting. I have touched on the highlight's of last night's meeting. This is an attempt to get important newsworthy items out to the sledding community electronically in a timely fashion. Official board minutes will still be available after formal acceptance at the September meeting.

If this format is well received it may become a regular feature. This will also be posted under the news section of the NHSA website.

Let me know what you think so I can provide feed back to the whole Board!

Last night’s monthly meeting of the NHSA Board of Directors featured a fairly light summer agenda.

With three past presidents and a half dozen guests present the meeting was held after a nice hamburger & hotdog cookout featuring renowned barbecue Chef and NHSA President Terry Callum!

Lt. Kevin Jordan represented the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department; he will be filling in for the now retired Tim Acerno. Jordan stated that plans for the joint New Hampshire/Vermont weekend of reciprocity, for the third weekend in January 2011, continue to move forward. A public hearing on this proposal will be held at Fish & Game HQ in Concord at 6:30 PM on September 13th. All comments can be directed to Director Normandeau up until September 24th. The NHSA was also thanked for the great turnout at Tim Acerno’s retirement party.

Mike Cormier from Easter seals thanked the Board and all NHSA members for helping to contribute to yet another successful summer for Easter Seal campers. Everyone is looking forward to the next Ride-In at the Balsams.

Tim Lorenz from the Weare Winter Wanderers brought us all up to speed on the fantastic work going on down in his neck of the woods to get the trails in shape for this upcoming winter. Later on in the meeting Tim was also sworn in as the new Contributor Director. Welcome aboard Tim!

Various committee reports were given. Of much interest was Tom Willand’s report that the Ride-In Search committee is reviewing a number of hotels in order to make sure that all possible areas get consideration for upcoming events. Roger Wright gave an excellent update on progress and new programs in relation to the upcoming Grass Drags. Marie Hixon wanted everyone to know that she is always looking for new Safety Instructors and is available to help in any way possible with existing classes. And Gail reminded us all that the deadline for submitting the first article for the upcoming Sno Traveller is August 25th.

President Callum let us know that a group known as the Pink Ribbon Riders, working to fight breast cancer is interested in possibly sponsoring an event in New Hampshire. The Board asked Terry to get more particulars regarding this inquiry.

Finally Roger Wright looked for permission from the Board for him and Craig Mayo to attend this year’s Hay Days Grass Drags in Minnesota next month. This would allow him and Craig to analyze the event and solicit additional vendors for our own event. President Callum and several Board members spoke in favor. As proposed $1100 of the trip would be covered by Grass Drag funds with Roger & Craig paying for the rest of the trip out of pocket. A resolution to this effect was passed unanimously by the Board.

The next meeting will be the annual President’s meeting held at the Shalimar!

Please, join a Club where you regularly ride...and when you see a Groomer Jar hopefully give what you can as every penny counts!
