Cutting starts this Saturday at 7:00AM until noonish. We are meeting in the Fox Hollow development which is a right hand turn just before the rt 77 bridge if you are coming from Dunbarton heading towards Weare. Any help will be accepted and appreciated. Anyone that does come please leave your 4 wheelers at home as ATV usage is going to be limited.

Fellow snowmobilers:

WORK PARTY TOMORROW 7/24/10…..HELP NEEDED!!!!

Re: New snowmobile trail through Drew Lake/Elm Brook Park…our GATEWAY NORTH trail with 100% of it on LAND!

As most of you remember, the trail through Elm Brook Park/Drew Lake/Stumpfield is currently closed to snowmobiling and has been closed periodically through the past 2 or 3 seasons plus. Safety has been the primary reason for the closure due to the dangers associated with the varied water levels and ice conditions associated with them. However, through discussions with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Trails and other organizations, the Weare Winter Wanders have been granted the permission and assistance to construct a new “land” snowmobile trail through the entire area. What can you do to help??

Work will commence this Saturday, 7-24-10 at 7 am, a 4-5 hour shift, then each Saturday following till an anticipated completion date prior to the end of August. We will plan to meet at the gate, just east of the bridge over the canal on Route 77 (about ¼ mile east of the Sugar Hill Road intersection off Route 77). For volunteers aged 8 to 80, your help can and will be utilized. Water and snacks will be provided to volunteers on all work details. In addition, burgers and dogs will be provided to those who work this upcoming Saturday morning at the end of the work party (around noon).

The majority of the work for the first couple of work parties will be mainly cutting, therefore please plan to bring gloves. If you choose to bring your own chainsaw, please plan to use at your own risk. However, there will be chainsaws available and bringing your own is not a necessity.

We look forward to seeing you!!

The gate is in the Fox Hollow development. Sorry for the confusion. You cannot see the gate from the road. Again, once in Fox Hollow, after the first house on the left, there is an access road that goes into the woods.

Thanks! You had me thinking the gates was right off Route 77 with today's post.

I'll try my best to make it tomorrow. I know this trail is going to help the Bow Pioneers out. The existing trail out of Clough is only a feeder trail and passes within feet of a house...not good.

Great, I've been waiting for an update on the start. But I planned on going North in the morning, so it will have to be another day.
Enjoy it while you can, now.

I went over at 7 sharp with Phazer Man from Bow, ,,, the hugest work party I have ever seen,,,,, three large groups were formed and dispatched with a clear and well planned "attack" by on of the Weare members,, we had a great and productive AM with a great lunch served by the WWW sc at noon, the current plan is to meet next saturday at 7 am from what I have been told... stay tuned for updates , I hope to have some pics up soon. At least five snowmoble clubs were represented today at this effort

Don't everone get too excited, here I was knowing only 3 of the entire group,,, as the burgers and dogs were flying off the grills, and I (yes of all people) shouted "WHO HAS A CAMERA?" one was quickly produced and some pics of the huge gang were captured having a great lunch, now you have me feeling like I HAVE to go back next week to capture more of the action, this reroute is several miles and includes some bridges.

BTW I also said, "ANYONE HERE ON SLED NH?" ,,,, slience,,,,, then I said "anyone ever HEAR of slednh?",,,, slience,, then I said .

"YOU GUYS NEED TO CHECK OUT SLEDNH!"

I would like to thank everyone who helped out today. It was really awesome to see members from multiple clubs show up. It just goes to show you what we can accomplish when we all work together. More work got done than was planned. I apologize that I did not meet up in person with some of you who did come. I did here a good story about starting a motor with water before we began this morning. We had aprox. 40 volunteers show. I have never seen that before.

Again we are planning on meeting at the same time next Saturday morning at the same spot. If you are available the WWW would love to have you back, if you are unable Thank you for the help that you have given us.

"BTW I also said, "ANYONE HERE ON SLED NH?" ,,,, slience,,,,, then I said "anyone ever HEAR of slednh?",,,, slience,, then I said."

I had to leave early today for a previous commitment otherwise I would have answered.
