Is Massabesic good for riding, or still not enough snow cover? Anybody know?

Not sure how safe the Lake is or where it would be... but the trails with this storm will be groomed , from what I heard last night.

Do you think SNHSS groomed for sure? Maybe it will be on the website. The website earlier today said they were still closed...Bear Brook..Pawtuckaway etc.

Some don't know where to look for info ... on trail's open & closed...here's a link to the "NH trails bureau" and it clearly state's whats open and closed "STILL" Don't go on any assumption that a club doesn't up-date enough info ( Last info is good for atleast 3 weeks ? )... It's the Riders responibility to find out before.

I groomed some of pawtuckaway last night, I can tell you first hand some one rode the tower road before I could get to it with the groomer, and blew most of the new snow to the edge of the trail out of reach of the drag, that really sucks!!! I had nothing to work with on that section of road and it is only an inch or two of ice down the middle have fun we will doo everything possible to make it as good as we can.

Thank's for posting that... I know what you mean. I'm real curious...why People are riding..if the STATE say's they closed the trails to snowmobiling & ATV's in the Southern park's...
I know we need to groom them ( with what snow we recieved ) to re-create the trail base... But I guess if peopel see agroomed trail they think it's "OPEN" ...
another question...is there any sign's up that the state said they placed in the Park's...Temporarily closed ? ...

Trails were down to dirt this afternoon, snow's gone. Had a tough time getting from the parking lot onto the lake. Some of the shore was open water. Only found one access path which was rough and narrow. Once on the lake it was ok. Kind of slushy, but better than nothing. Pray for cold, and snow. I think it's gonna be a lost season.

I went for a walk at the lake yesterday and think I saw you on a blue yamaha going on the lake. massibissic is a water supply for manchester and they do not allow motorized vehicles of any kind on the ice, you can get a hefty fine if caught. the snow went fast yesterday but at least the ground is frozen, we need a big dump of snow what we have now just wont cut it.

since when do they not want people on the ice with motorized vehicles? i have never heard of that and i've been riding my sled on that lake for years. i have a buddy who works for them and i'll have to ask him about that. not saying your wrong but if that was the case you would think fish and game and or the water works would be sitting by the parking lot writing tickets till there pen went dry.

Check the small display board in the parking lot I just read it a week ago it has many RSA restrictions on it.

Snowmobiles ARE allowed. AtVs are not allowed. Speed limit for snowmobiles is 35 mph. I just read the entire rules and regs, it is under ENV-WS 386-47 , RSA 485-24. However there is a section of lake on the westerly side that they have posted against trespassing. That is the water intake area, and it is a huge area off limits.

I was not aware of the 35 MPH restriction. that is REAL BAD news to me. i was going a lot faster than that.

I have a call into Manchester Water Works also.

The guy called me back from MWW. They do allow snowmobiling on the unrestricted part of the lake. They don't recommend snowmobiling on Massabesic or Tower Pond because they pump from them, and draw them down which creates voids. I think he was telling the truth because I saw some open water on the shore, and five hundred feet away I found massive ice chunks blocking access at the botat ramp. I think that lake can be dangerous.

35 MPH, now what!!!

Well Look's like you clarified that.... I knew about the 35mph and snowmobiles were allowed in the Non restricted area's...

and yes...the Massebessic area and snowslicker's trails into bearbrook are marginal...and with this warm weather..the groomer's are even seeing snow loss... I'm sure the usual pockets of snow depth are out on the system...but as a whole more ice' will be showing with warmer weather...

The SnowSlickers do a pretty good job on those trails. Yeah, it's not Pittsburg, but for a local ride, without spending half the day trailering and $50.00 worth of gas, they are pretty good, when there's snow.

I wish they would open up more parking at Massabesic. Sandy's and the ballfield lots, are not enough, when it's busy.
Why can't they open the main lot at the lake, and both boat ramp lots on 121??? Anybody know???

Pray for snow!!!!!

I'd like to add something here .... with this Last storm we had on Tues-Wed..morning many folk's had the impression we'd have alot of snow coverage to groom with... THAT IS NOT THE CASE !!!

The Main reason I posted this information was to show a certian few individual's where to locate the info they were looking for "NOT HERE SAY" and the questionable "legalality of riding a closed posted trail system"

I had cut & copied a Trails Bureau report that was for the 18th of Feb ... ... Directly from the "Trails Bureau" website .. as of the 19th when they recieve a Report from the Club ( groomers ) or stationed park rangers an "update" was made. The Webmaster's for that site takes care of this ...
The Report at this time ( and as of the 19th of Feb ) say's that the Park trails are all "opened" .... Please don't be mis-lead by everything you read ..."Updates" need to be made...
We are in Spring like condition's...and VERY LOW SNOW... don't complain that if a trail is marginal or has "Bare" spot's or "MUD" that someone should be updating a website on a daily or every minute of the day report....
"Use some common sense people..."
If you want to take your $5,000 -$10,000 snowmachine for a Dry surface or mud run..that's your own perogative. If a State Trail has it listed "Open" at the Time...Don't complain !! they do what they can to keep people "updated"

Many individual's...(Possibly new to our sport) or just want to complain ? feel when a snowflake hit's the ground a club should have a groomer operator on hand and be grooming every minute thay can... "NOT alway's going to happen" ... It is Irresponible of any club to go out in a no snow on trail condition...to even drop a drag !! the expense that a Snowmobile club inccurr's with Damage's to equipment with improper usagage is More costly than some could phathom ...
If you feel because a club doesn't groom their trails, to save money on fuel or because they don't have an operator that wants to do it in a timely manner.."YOU ARE TOTALLY INCORRECT " These Guy's & Gal's ..eat, sleep & drink coffee all night for you individuals !!! THEY (WE ) Know the type of snow that can and can't be groomed ...or Packed !!

Your going to hear...the common thing " Why didn't the groomers pull snow in from the side of the trail " the snow on the side of a trail being pulled in from edge's ...doesn't stand a chance to harden up in these temp's...especially on a weekend with everyone tearing it up !!! The SNOW on the edge's..."Experienced Groomers know" are for later in the Season to fill in bad pocket area's..SO you all can extend into your riding season... it's not plowing a road out there...

I'm sorry about my ranting ..to the people, that do understand our situations out there.... BUT !!! Sometimes we have to EXPLAIN this Every Season...
