Ok... after reading the Union Leader Article ... it seem's this has been in the planning stages for month's... I haven't seen nor heard of which month they were interested in.

They use the word "Snodeo" ... this doesn't mention that there would be trail run's for interested new comer's or Folk's wanting to test for new sleds.. and why would they want to confuse people with the one that is held in the "north country" Coleman Park, West Stewartstown,NH with this one...

Maybe "Snow-X " would have been a better choice title ? Look, I'm an avid sledder... but you have to look at some of the landowners stand point of a 1 trail access through a property and opening it up to Yes over 3,000 sleds a day passing through it...that weekend...
You also have to agree... Southern NH definitly would have more traffic sled's or vehicles.. like the Grass Drag's & Water Cross.
Iv'e been to Sno-deo north country 7 times ( 170+ miles away, 3 1/2 hr drive )... and maybe you'd see 200 sled's ( not vendors/racers ) tops parked in the idle fence area at a time...
Definitley will be some car traffic...but not like Nascar events ...

Just a little for thought here... the adjoining club's could they handle the extra sled traffic ? in a safe manner, trail's are narrower & twisty in many places ( other than Bear Brook & Pawtuckaway )... My guess is grooming would be almost to a halt & only at night... I have been on many trail's and seen the crap beat out of them.. take's almost 3 nights of grooming to get back ridable and what about snow level's... we usually have less good base than the North Country...

I thought I read Feb. 27th for the event?

Actually they were hoping to plan Feb. 20-21st ...I missed it ... but that is only a plan. & so close to the North Country Operating Sno-deo", how much impact do you think it would have... Why not early Feb. ? like the 5-6th? 6-7th ?
Thats the weekend of Easter Seal's...what better way to Tap into Monies generated from out of state folks that don't go to the Ride-In or the Groomer Rodeo...

It's going to be called the "Sno Bowl"

Hope this happens.
I am on the west side of Concord, would I and others have to go north ,cut under rt93 somewhere and then go south?
Can't get there from here Ray. You would have to get up to Lake Winni to cut over to the other side of the Merrimack and I-93.

I heard about this the last time I was at the Rave X store in Portsmouth. Dave from Rave X said they're looking into doing all sorts of racing. If this goes through Rave X will be putting on a freestyle demo. I hope they do Snow-X, oval racing and freestyle. It would bring a lot of different riders together. I love the idea.

There are 2 ways to do it that don't involve going as far as Winni.

Last year you could cross the face of franklin falls and get to tilton, there is another trail over from corr 11,it's hard to find though.

Either one gets you to the east side rail bed,go down to canterbury and take the club trail to loudon, goes right through the sno-shakers clubhouse.

I don't know if the old trail is on a map, maybe the franklin clubs?

The one over the dam was new last year, don't know if it's on a map yet either,I'm not much for maps,I just go.

It was on the news today. They are trying to stop the event, saying that it would break an agreement with abutters stating that there would be no racing- of any kind- between Oct 31 and April 1st. Stay tuned....

Interesting comment from a Loudon resident on the UL article:

"If you want to see the kind of trouble these so call snowmobilers will bring to the trac, then just point your browser to www.hardcoresledder.com and open up the New Hampshire page. Here you wil find post after post of the type of snowmobiler that would be attracted to this event talking about illegal riding, harassing non-snowmobilers, taunting law enforcement and fish & game personnel and bragging about running loud exhausts and other illegal equipment on their snowmachines. This site should be required reading for all Loudon and Canterbury residents, and all thoughtful environmentalists in general. Simply stated, this is definitely not the kind of tourism or people I want attracted to my Loudon this or any other winter!

I hope you don't think I'm not for the event ?? More than Pleased to see something like this happen... Great for the community as a whole. It's what reprocussion exist after the event has taken place ...
Let me ask you this ? Do you think that after such an event, Snowmobiler's ( the one's tresspassing ) will stay out of the track's facilities ? If more people were Honest and cared about someone else's property they don't own & respect there wish's.. wouldn't be a problem at all...

We as a snowmobiling community, still have work ahead of us to monitor ... and not say" that's someone else's problem" ... The OLD comeback answer " I saw this guy do this last week, and he said it was ok " isn't going to Fly anymore.
I'm almost willing to bet...every season ..every club has to deal with someone or something a sled/atv has broken a rule or signage or property...

My last comments were directed at George Staples. If this event is such a problem to some people then why are they still having these snodeo's up in Colebrook and other areas. I haven't heard of any problems there? You have any kind of event that attracts large groups of people your going to have a few aholes to ruin it. People complain about bike week and say 1 more year but they still have it. It's called the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR!!

Thanks for the Clarification ;) ... I believe you know the point's being made are just insight's... Like I mentioned earlier, For folk's Manchester Area & South it's a LONG Drive for a 1-2 day event ...especially if they don't stay over. I enjoy going myself with family or friends... I hope they keep doing it with the Manufacture's & Sponsors ... it's real rare to see problems arise ( ok other than a few stolen sleds ) eventually caught ...
By the way..Bike week the last ten years..is nothing like it was back in the mid 60's-70's... it's much tamer now as far as I can see... The reason for so many police visibility, is too keep it that way and for public to see the community cares. Good $$$ spent.

Look... If The Track can make a little or break even on an event during Winter there...it's good for most everyone involved including nearby Buisnesses. Do I think it may hurt the Snodeo in Colebrook with the time frame being close... maybe a very small percentage. Just my Opinion... On the other hand...it may Boost the Snodeo in Colebrook, individuals seeing another opportunity to a snowmobiling event.

Can anyone comment on the Groveton race schedule? being the same date /weekend ?
