Hi this is my first post here I'm looking into riding in NH this year instead of Vt and Maine. I want to do something different. I live just outside of springfield ma and am looking for places to ride, during the week mainly that i can reach in about 2 hours or less. any suggestions? Does it make a differnce which club I join are there any clubs that do group rides, I don't think my buddies are going to do much riding this year and I get nervous riding alone in case something breaks
thanks
jeff

Two hours driving north on I-91 will get you to Lebanon, NH. There is usually a good snow cover in the high country of Grafton County. The Lyme club, Lyme Pinnacle Snowmobile Club
PO Box 121, Lyme, NH 03768, has a good reputation for their trails, and maybe a letter or phone call would answer your questions. The NHSA web site will give more information about the NH clubs. http://www.nhsa.com/clubs.shtml

Welcome. All you have to do is show up at the Scrub Oak Scramblers clubhouse on Sat. for lunch and socialize with the hundreds of other sledders and you will have many ride options. It's two hours from Boston in Madison, Nh with outlets to all parts of Nh and into Maine. Sat. is open house day with the best burgers around. Last year we took a ride up to Gorham for the afternoon 180 miles roundtrip.

You can find parking @ White Lake State Park on rt.16 (White Mt. Highway) in Tamworth, and @ the Canoe King across the street from WLSP as well. They both have direct trail access to OVSC trails and state corridor trails #15 and #19. SOS trails are only 1 mile away via C-19. Maps can be purchased @ Canoe King, and you can join clubs + register there as well.
Google maps should show both WLSP and Canoe King.
NH offers excellent riding about anywhere you go...the western part of the state and the northern part both have spectacular trails. But WLSP / Canoe King or the SOS clubhouse is about the perfect destination for your needs..what we have in spades is Food and Gas...other parts of the state can't equal our numerous locations. Direct access to most, including Dunkin Doughnuts, McDonald's, a Chinese restaurant, The Yankee Smokehouse, and a lot more..

Driving directions From Springfield to Walpole, NH (Area) ( 85 miles of trails ) www.hooperhillhoppers.com
81.3 mi – about 1 hour 23 mins

From Springfield,Mass. to Troy,NH (180 miles of trails ) http://littlemonadno...s.com/Home.html

75.6 mi 1 hour 35 mins

From Springfield,Mass. to Lebanon, NH (Area)
124 mi – about 1 hour 57 mins

From Springfield,Mass to Manchester,NH (Area) I-90 E 125 mi 2 hours 1 min
Clubhouse is www.snowslickers.org Driving directions to 73 Tower Hill Rd, Candia, NH 03034
131 mi – about 2 hours 10 mins

From Springfield to Canaan, NH (135 miles of trails ) www.mtcardigansnowmobileclub.com this is usually a good snow area heading north or northeast on trails ...
138 mi – about 2 hours 17 mins (105 miles of trails )

From Springfield to Ossipee,NH (Area)
I-495 N
189 mi 3 hours 12 mins

Well here are 6 general location's ... and you mentioned a 2 hour drive ? Many club's have clubhouse's which is nice if you park & ride from there... ( nice warm building to change in...) other club members may ride during the day also.
Might want to think about weekend riding in the area also... a few times and the easy comute in the 2 hrs - 3hrs and ease of lodging or other activities if condition's change during the trip up here...

Basically it really doesn't matter which club you belong to to ride any of the trail systems ...and many inter-connect to one another. When we get good Snow conditions South of Concord,NH area... there is alot of trails and Large State Parks and Rails to Trails conversions...

I would ride right from my house, but there is a lot of parking for trailers at Kulicks behind the gas station. The drive is less than an hour if you book it up 91. From there you can connect to the rail trail which will take you up to Walpole and beyond or over to Hinsdale.

Was interesting to read... they put in print that it's 1 1/2 hrs from Springfield, Mass. I have heard of some nice riding there in Pisgah state park...

They mentioned Kulick's will have "maps" on there website... and Club Memeberships at Gary's Power Equipment across street...
Thought I'd place this here for you... real nice list of buisness's & phone #'s....really know your way around there...

I am new to New Hampshire, am living in Jaffrey, and am not sure of where is a good place to ride, or which club to join. I am a member and on the contact list, so if anyone has any input it will be greatly appreciated and accepted.
I work overnights, so my riding time on work days (Sun-Thurs) will be early morning to about 1:00pm. Then on Fri and Sat I will ride all day and night... lol
Is there anyone out there that can show me the ropes and help me with this?

I have ridden from downtown Jaffery to Keene. You can park in the lot behind the pizza joint and ride the rail bed to the MA. border. You can get to connecting trails that take you to another rail bed that will take you to Keene. All rails are removed and there is food and gas available. I picked up a map at the Gas station (Foggs). Good luck.

I've heard that this year they now have a trail (9?) that connects from near the Keene end of the Troy railbed over to the Ashuelot trail (400). Perhaps it skirts the north end of the airport. This would be a quicker way to Keene from Jaffrey. Does anyone know if this connector trail is open?

Happy Riding.
Jim
