Myself and another OVSC member met the Bureau of Trails and two SOS members in Conway this morning to deck the three trestles on Corridor 19.

It was clear and cold when we first met with the thermometer hovering in the single digits. By afternoon it had warmed a bit and was spitting snow when we finished up.

Out grooming tonight, Here is a picture of EVSC giving PMSC a pull up a steep hil near moose mountain. I am not making fun of them because we got stuck on anouther trail 3 times . Close to 12-16 inches of new snow sense last grooming up in the mountains.

This is one of my favorites: our first pass over this trail for the season, the Club Pres. was ahead of me brushing and found this "small piece of steel sticking out the trail, after about an hour of digging and pulling we recovered a 75' section of barn cleaner chain (goes behind cows in a continuos loop to clean what they leave behind). The pic was taken by a phone not the best quality but not bad.

OVSC got permission to widen a section of the Great Hill Pond Loop trail so that the Tucker could fit. Dave wanted to get started while there was still snow on the ground to skid the logs out to the landowners landing.

On the way out I couldn't believe what we were grooming on top of this Winter (note the blue paint from the drag on top of the rock)

Once I got to the James Pond Intersection the trails still had great coverage.

The site automatically reduces them...is it doing it for you?

Here are some pics I took today on The Great Hill Pond Loop on the OVSC system. We are replacing a 5' x 50' bridge with a 12' x 50' bridge so we can get our Tucker all the way through the trail.

The excavator had to drag the bridge steel about a mile and half from the road to the site.

Posted Image

here are the abutments for the new bridge. the old bridge is still in place and we will leave it there until we complete the new one.

Posted Image

the short section between where the tucker turned around and the bridge site had never seen an excavator or a dozer. the operator went through and cleaned up all the rocks and stumps before he brought the steel down.

I think the plan is to try to get the steel in place and braced ASAP. I would guess a work party will be planned for either the first or second weekend in October. Dave should have a better idea after the weekend.
