Someone posted on NHSledding that they saw some trail CLOSED over there.
" Anyone heard about primary 154 loop in and around Lyme. I know the Pres. had a problem with gas stolen. I was at the clarks pond turnoff area where you can go to the skiway or head to Lyme village and the village route is posted closed to local traffic only. Can you go in from the Quintown side or is it all closed. I have heard the trail might be closed by the end of Jan if someone didn'd fess-up the the theft. Bad things happen and a few bad apples screw it up for everyone, I enjoy taking the big 154 route its nice and scenic...hope I still can this season. Please let me and all know any information...there are no postings of closings on trails bureau or Baker river. "

Anyone know more about this ?

** WE MAY LOSE THE ONLY TRAIL TO LYME VILLAGE **

ON THE EVENING OF 12/27/08, A GROUP OF 2-3 SLEDS STOLE GAS FROM A FUEL TANK IN THE VILLAGE.

THE FUEL TANK IS OWNED BY THE PRESIDENT OF LYME PINNACLE SNOWMOBILE CLUB. HE HAS BEEN PRESIDENT FOR MANY YEARS AND HE HAS GIVEN THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF HIS TIME TO THIS SPORT.

IF THE RESPONSIBLE PARTIES DO NOT COME FORWARD BY 1/30/09 HE WILL CLOSE THE TRAIL TO THE VILLAGE.

PLEASE CONTACT WAYNE AT 603-795-2623. HE DOES NOT WANT TO PROSECUTE, HE JUST WANTS THOSE RESPONSIBLE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. MAYBE THERE’S AN EXPLANATION.

MOST CERTAINLY HE DESERVES ONE.

It's quite apparent that the people are not going to come forward. How is it going to help the other business' if he closes the only trail to town? I think that is wrong to do that. Just because one person does this, everyone has to pay? It does suck, but your punishing people for something they didn't do and that is wrong. I think they should look for a new President if this is an indication of how things are going over there.

There is only one business in Lyme Village, the General Store and I think they have the market cornered with all the locals.

I gotta be honest, if I had a trail on my property and people were stealing my property I would close that trail in a heartbeat. Someone should have took up a collection and tried to appease the individual, but I guess that wasn't the point.

On the flip side, if I had a trail on my property, i would most likely ensure my gasoline was locked up somehow.

Too bad if that trail is closed.

I don't believe this happens all the time is what I am saying. I would lock it up also. It's too bad that we have become like this.

I have heard that is is still open for now. However, people are watching the tanks.
