Hey guys, I found the new sled darts a little bit Triple and someone else told me about dual carbides? What do you run, what size, does the track have to be studded? Mine isn't right now, also maybe some links to where to get them!

I put Woody's duallys on my Sabercat and they work great! 4" or 6" of carbide is fine if you're not going to stud the track. If you stud it the amount of carbide depends on the amount of picks and the amount of picks depends on engine size. Woody's reccommends 153 studs for an F8 with 8" of carbide.

I put dual carbides on both mine and the wife's sled this season , and we both found that it made a hell of a difference with the darting issue. Niether track is studded and we running the 4" carbides.. I searched around for best price and found a company called (wearbars.com)and went with them, I think they were around $40 per ski for the 4"..
You'll be happy when you make the switch,it does make a big inprovement in handling .....
Good Luck with that new Cat.........

Before you toss the stock carbides, jack up the front of the sled so the skis are off the ground. You want the front of the ski to be tipped up when it is not supporting the sled. If it's not, then you add shims under the rubber bumpers in the ski saddle to force the front of the ski upward. That and making sure that the toe is set correctly (see your manual) should take care of most darting problems.

I'm running Bergstrom's triple point carbides. They are excellent, and his web site has a lot of info regarding darting and sled setup.

Thanks for all the input I just ordered woodys dual 6 inch I may stud the track lightly for that just in case thingy! lmao! I will have them here on tuesday! Polaris great tip on the site! Thanks!

Old thumper! The skis do aim up! This is a well known fact of the 07 F8's darting some, it is very rideable but, I just want to take that factor out of it totally!

I have 170 Studs on my 07 F8 (1.0" track) and was experiencing a un-godly amount of darting and pushing in corners. Just before the trip north last week I changed to Woody's Dually 8" carbides and Let me tell ya... WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Almost like riding a different sled.

Would whole-heartedly recommed this change to anyone. price for 8" = about $70 per ski.

Do you have to have a special ski setup to accept dual carbides? Or can you just put them on in place of regular carbides?

I rode a sled with them and they were very nice.

Thanks

Woody's has dooly's that replace most single carbides for most makes of sled
I run the Dooly's 6" with 144 picks.
They make a big difference.

I use the "DUECE" Bars from STUD BOY. They are dual carbides but they are also shaper bars... Ran the woody's b4 and they were good but these shaper dually's are so much better and I have been able to use the same set for 2 1/2 seasons so far, where I usually had to change carbides (including the Woody's dual) every year. 8" dually carbides with 144 picks in the rear, I average about 3,000 miles per season, and of course the last 2 seasons have been good snow coverage seasons.

I don't think they make the new slim jims for all models, :nea:
I checked for my 2000 Ski-Doo with flex skis and it came up with the old pn#
I wanted to try those stud boys shaper bars , maybe next year, I like the idea of the side contact area

I ran a set of the Dulys on my V-Max. They worked good, but seemed to add a lot of drag.

Here is my 2 cents. I have tried dualies and they are great for reducing darting, but now you are distributing the ski pressure to 2 cutting edges with half the load on each. The result is fine but you do get some push in the corners. I feel that if you want the best traction in a turn you want one long carbide. I prefer the long (7-9 inch) shaper bars on stock skis and 5-6 inch on after market skis like C&A or others. This also reduces darting.
