I bought my wife a 1999 Gmc Yukon this last October and it has been nothing but trouble!!! It had 129,xxx on it when we got it now it has 135,xxx!!!! What a piece of junk. First it was the blower motor failing on my way home from Stewartstown while the temps dipped into the -10's, then 2 days ago the battery takes a crap. Now it says "check gages" and I see the oil pressure right at 0!!! It does come back up with RPMS but a sure sign that I'm now looking at a new oil pump.

Anyone willing to barter some snow removal for the labor to fix this shit trap?

OUCH. In my experience, when a pump goes like that...changing it only temporarily puts off the inevitable. It does not take but 100 rpm with no oil pressure to really kill bearings. I hope I am wrong. I know you don't want to hear it, but I suggest a re-built short block. Good luck.

OT is right, you might have a spun bearing blocking the oil passage holes causing low oil pressure. Does it have a slight knock? It sounds like you got a abused vehicle. I've never had a problem with any of two dozen chevy's I've had.

Just did the blower motor in the wifes 97 yuke you will need to replace the big fuse under the hood and most likely the resistor that regulates voltage to it

You have a 10 year old vehicle, with 135k miles on it, and you are complaining because of a couple failed components, including a dead battery? 10 years old, you should be expecting things to break, as opposed to calling it a POS. I am not trying to bash you here, but you need to be a bit more realistic in your expectations.

IMHO.

My parents have a 97 Tahoe that they bought new and that thing has 210k on it now, It had been such a good truck my dad kept when my mom got her new one in 03. The only thing that has been done other than maintenance stuff is my dad had the transmission rebuilt 5k ago. He likes using it to go hunting in PA every year over the newer one

You may just need an oil sending unit, which are common on the 99-03 gm's. The blower motor thing is not too bad a job, Be glad you do not have a Jeep that needs a blower motor which involves tearing out the ENTIRE dashboard.

When I get a used vehicle I expect for that kind of stuff, so I am always and forever prepared to add $500 (in my mind) to the price of a vehicle. Battery, plugs, wires, oil change, fuel filter, brake pads, transmission filter and fluid change, differential fluid change, wiper blades, and possibly tires. This is so I know what I am working with.

You tend to get frustrated when all of these things happen so close together. Chevy's been building this 350 since when? The early 30-40's? I know I'll run into problems with a 10 year old vehicle, I've bought tons of older vehicles and haven't had this much trouble in such a short period. That's why it's a POS.

Not sure yet, gonna explore my options and probably end up fixing it. It isn't knocking, it runs smooth and holds pressure most of the time but at an idle it will randomly fall. Probably end up trading it in somewhere for what's been working for me for so many years now...FORD. :good:

Just gonna make a suggestion here... had the same thing happen with my Suburban... all it needed was an oil change. The engine was running with the choke partially on and was pushing fuel into the oil diluting the hell out of it. Check the oil and if its thin. I did an oil change along with a filter change and fixed my choke plate and bingo its all set... 200k on it too boot. :D

It is due for an oil change, I'm just scared to drive the thing and then have something lock up! Thanks for the suggestion.

You can't beat that 350 engine... Very dependable in my opinion and use of it.

It was fun, got darn cold out, the wind was really bad well on the rail bed heading to Berlin! But I was comfy my buddy, I felt bad for his shield froze up so he rode with it cracked to keep it clear! We only put on about 70 miles but a good time, I hit 75 in what seemed like a flash on the 8 I am feeling comfortable on it! I did notice a bit of darting on it at speed I just got to tweak the shocks a little! I am gonna enjoy this sled, plenty of power for me I bounce from 185 to 195LBs so plenty fast enough with me on it!

I changed the motor a couple weeks ago. It's been good since.

I just got back from driving it and I was keeping an eye on the oil pressure and it would jump and fall eradicly, then rise up with RPMS and settle right around 20. It dropped to 0 when I came to a stop then jumped right up without me touching the throttle. A friend of mine says sending unit like some of you have said. I hope so, that would mean more money for riding. :good:

Amsoil :good: I switch to that product right after I bought my 03' Yukon. The engine ran smoother and I had a better gas mileage. You change it onec a year or 25000 which ever comes first. Now my Subaru runs on it and I burn less oil in that car where I was adding a pint every month, not it's a pint every 6-8 months. Amsoil also makes filters as well. Change them when you change the oil. :drinks:
