I just got my new helmet radio from Collett! :yahoo:

I got the platnum 900 stereo version and was wondering if anyone has this unit and what the thoughts are of it.

I have the original 900, love it! Plug in the mp3 and tune out while riding. Don't have to stop at every intersection when leading just say left or right and wait for the conformation. Works great. The warning beacon option is good too.

I've been very pleased with mine, and have found the groomer beacon helpful. Primary point to remember is to keep the voice tube as close to your lips as possible, and try not to let your balacava or other head gear get between the tube and your lips (sometimes hard to do!).

Once you get the settings figured out (volume and voice input levels) you should be good to go! :good:

Please, join a Club where you regularly ride...and when you see a Groomer Jar hopefully give what you can as every penny counts!

Yep, I was talking to Skip through the collect platnum, selling me on hot dogs at the snack shack- coming down from the tower.

I now have 4 Collett 900s and they work great.

I have found that on long rides on very cold days the moisture in your breath tends to freeze in the microphone tube and block the sound waves. I cured that problem by cutting off a finger from a LaTeX glove, slipping it over the end of the tube and fastening it in place with a rubber band. I works great! :good:

While the radios are not absolutely necessary they just give you a good extra safety feature while riding.

Over the years I have tried various helmet radios and the Colletts are the best and well worth the bucks! :clapping:

I love having them as well ESPECIALLY when riding with my 13 year old son. I am supposed to be "in control" of him but it's impossble without the ability to contact him and remind him/instruct him. Simple things like: "Stay to the right." or "Riders coming" are made that much simpler having the communicators. I think it should be logical for every parent out there to have these for the kids and you.

They should talk more about these during the Safety Courses to encourage their usage IMHO.

Mark,
That works with the latex finger? That has been my biggest problem is the voice tube freezing. Never thought to give it the finger....
