Sunday is more or less definite, and Monday is looking more and more likely...I guess the storm could really explode when it hits the ocean...

Also, Joe said they are waiting on confirmation of a new record low temp for the state last night; -50 in the county, a place called "black river" or some such.

50 FRIGGIN DEGREES BELOW ZERO!

That sucks. Did you have it plugged in last night? Was she even turning over or just not fireing up? Had that happened to my brothers Cummins powered truck up in Rangeley one year and it was only -15 out. We didn't plug the truck in b/c we forgot an extension cord. Tried jumping it.......no dice. We had to get a tube heater..... build a little "enclosure" out of cardboard around the base of the engine and let the thing heat up for half an hour before she would even turn over. What a PITA. Live and learn.

It whirled over like it was 20*, but no fire. Began running the NEW batteries down and gave up. This weekend I hope the temps moderate enough for it to start..and no, it wasn't plugged in. Cord is froze into the ice, and 10' short. I have a mini hi-hat propane heater but I'm nervous about catching the thing on fire....

That really sucks. If it was cranking over but not firing, then it's not getting fuel as you already surmised. Good luck. :drinks:

The F-550 I drive has 58000 miles,we keep it in unheated building. I still have to cycle the glow plugs a couple of times. My 6.5 chevy diesel had new glow plugs put in when I had new heads and head gaskets done. Our loader[ highway dept.] wouldn't start,it is 24 volt but the mechanical put a meter on it and hooked up cables to accept a 12 volt 100 amp booster/charger and hooked to jumper cables from a pickup and a propane space heater[ torpedo heater] blowing onto the engine thru a side cover. It started eventually. My 2500HD started fine,it is gasoline instead of diesel,I have the plow package but no plow, the truck comes with a 160 amp alternator and two batteries plus the oil in new vehicles is a lot thinner. Diesels normally run 15w40 which can get heavy in the cold. Fuel additives can help in the cold. plowking

NECN is saying OVSC and SOS will get the jackpot with 10- 15 inches, and perhaps as much as 20"....Maine will get the bulk of it, with the heavy accumulation reaching into NH from North Wakefield to Conway and as far west as the Ossipee mts. according to the map I saw..

Awesome! I don't know how much longer we can groom the same snow, I can't believe the trails are as good as they are. This storm should fill in the tough areas.

Channel 6 and 8 both say 7-10" across the area "and that's just preliminary at this point"...

New snow - sweet !

Driving 190 miles in the snow - not so much :(

Last year every trip to Pittsburg was in clear weather. Looks like this year every trip is gonna be in poor driving conditions. Ugh.

Oh well - 3 days of mid-week riding will make it worthwhile. :yahoo:

I used to hear a saying growing up that said, "It's too cold to snow." Guess that's not true, the forecast is callling for windchill with snow accumulation. plowking
