The coldest I have ridden is -25. Anything below 0 and I hate to stop for breaks.

Helga and I are good to go down to -30. Colder than that and we make arrangements to stay another day. :good:

I've ridden at -20 and was OK. But I think that's cold enough.

I think +10 is just about ideal :good:

Been out when the day starts at -40, in Bethlehem. Cars would not start, but the sled did. Can't go home, so might as well ride.

Can be done, but I thik you need to keep the speeds down a bit to stay warm.

Isn't it crazy to think we go out and ride in this increasing the windchill factor and most people won't even go out in it...LOL

We pay a lot of money for the right equiptment, it pays for itself on days like that. The season is too short not to ride because of tempurature!!

I've also ridden with the tem at -20 and I was fine. It's the sled that might have problems at that temperature if your not jetted for the temp. Other than that, ride on!

What do people do to keep their face warm? I find that even with a helmet and balaclava my face gets really cold with air that gets past the faceshield (vents closed) when temps are really low...

X2

Ever since I started riding snowmobiles, I kept trying different things until I was comfortable at almost any temperature.

The Ski-doo BV2s helmet is one of the warmest I have ever used. :good:

i don't have an issue getting cold with my HJC CL12 but mine has the wind curtain in it new ones you have to buy that separately, rode with that down to 15-20 below a couple times.

I'm going back and forth between a new HJC CL15 or an Arctic Cat TXI need to head to my dealer to try on sizes so I can have CKF order me one if I go HJC. I won't wear my MX helmet below zero although i see people that do.

I always think "What if?"

If you are alone especially...what if the sled dies @ -20 and it's 20 miles to the truck / heat?
What if you have an accident @ -10 or -20? That's bad news.

I prefer riding in 0 and above. Damn, 0 is cold enough for sure. Call me a wimp.

It's easier to put it off for a day when you ride from your driveway. When you have a three hour drive, and need to rent a room, you want to maximize time in the seat.

I am thinking that if your face is cold, you shoud consider a higher windshield. Even if you only install it on really cold days. Most take 10 minutes to swap.

Looking at the GMAX 44S SPC Flip-Up Helmet. Would love a flip up helmet. Any idea if this one is as good/better than the BRP helmet? Is flip-up a novelty, or really useful? It's my BIRTHDAY this month, and want to give WIFEY a strong suggestion of what to get me. :good:

I love the flip up, plenty warm too. It comes with a wind deflector I put on for cold weather. Wifey has one too. No complaints and we do not hesitate to go out when it's cold. I do not know any
thing about the GMAX.
