Time to top off tanks with a little dry gas next few days. This is the time when a lot of calls come in for frozen fuel lines.

DO NOT USE DRYGAS WITH THE E-10 BLEND WE ARE NOW GETTING.

Prior to this fall most of the fuel up north was delivered from Portland therefore had no ethanol mixed and the red bottle (iso) was appropriate but with a 10% mix of alcohol already coming whether it's from Portland or Revere now you should not add any more.

09/10 season 860 miles as of 2/19

08/09 season 1683 miles - 07/08 season 2504 miles -06/07 season 2662 miles

So your saying the gas already contains enough alcohol to not freeze?

I guess if there's enough ethanol already in there I won't add any more, just top off the tank. Still stuck on old school because two years ago fuel pump iced up and fried at Indian mound hardware cost me over $300 to pull tank, flush, and replace fuel pump.

cold time isn't condensation time...

If your concerned about possible water contamination look into a "chemical sock" which was a bag with crystals that would absorb water & hold them in the bag....

Not sure of the marketed name & last place I saw them was on SDR's accessories table years back.

NO, it was a synthetic sock 1" diameter 3" long that had small sized 1/16" water absorbant pellets inside of it...

Kind of like the moisture absorbant chemical can thats sold to absorb moisture in gun safes

Correct.

As long as you burn through it within 2 weeks, after that it turns to moisture and freezes!

Their called Bucky Balls or molecular sives. They pull water out of liquids. Some of them, you can reactuate by heating them up to drive the moisture back out and then reuse them.

The ethanol added gas appears to be all over NH now. I noticed that when I check under my gas cap when refilling I no longer see any frost from moisture. I agree no more red bottle (iso). Hope there are no adverse side effects from the ethanol like O ring swelling.

Darn, I bought a seasons worth of Isopropryl back in November. Oh well. I still put some in before I left after christmas given it was going to be a few weeks before I got back up.

I read over on the Maine forum to use Marine Formula Sta-Bil. It's an Ethanol Treatment. Recommended for use at every fill up. One ounce for every 10 gallons. Found it at Walmart for $20. I'll see how that runs...
