This is an important announcement for all of us who use state parks for riding. This meeting is for Pisgah Park, but we need to have proper representation. \

Forum Date: Sept 27th: Fox forest State Park, Hillsborough Time: 10:00AM

Forum Date: Oct 2nd: Keene Public Library Time: 7:00PM

Forum Agenda:

This meeting will be used to gather information about Pisgah Park and recreational use. This meeting is for the general public to give the state information on how they currently use the park for recreation and how they would like the park to be used in the future.

Currently, there are both ATVS and snowmobiles permitted in the park. Pisgah Park is over 12,000 acres in size making it the state's 2nd largest park. The snowmobile trails equal 44 miles and ATV trails equal around 20 miles. The management plan for the park is being drafted for the next 20 years.

The Pisgah park steering committee is currently overseeing the management plan for the park. The steering committee is comprised of individuals appointed by state officials to represent all interests in the park. Wildlife, forestry, outdoor sports, motorized recreation, non-motorized recreation, and ecology are all represented.

There will be members of the steering committee and state officials present to gather information.

As I mentioned above, this is an informational meeting. That means that there will be no decisions made at this date as how the park will be managed for recreation in the future.

The current statues created to form the park require motorized recreation as part of the plan.

Obviously, there is quite a group trying everything in their power to restrict and prohibit motorized recreation, hunting, fishing , and other recreation that we enjoy currently. They are relentless in their pursuit of their twisted logic and enforcing their Zen philosophy to the outdoor enthusiast. Their tactic is the same that is being employed state wide. They call it “forever wild” areas. Others call it Covert Restriction.

We need to be civil, but we need to show up in force and voice our opinions. It is important to all snowmobilers and sportsmen state wide.

Please come to one if not both meetings. The future of our sport depends on our representation. If we do not stand up, we will be run over.
